Please Ian, next time just pick coach ruckus and his buddies so that they don't come in here mad at the guys again.

Thanks.

/sarcasm.

He makes madden videos on youtube bro, he is by far a more serious and important gamer than us, we're just fan boys, no big deal.

I don't know how people were aruging that madden had more control than 2k games. I'm not a 2k fanboy, i prefer 2k because so far they got it right in my eyes. I'm eager to see what '10 will do.

But if you break it down

WR - Main problem with madden is it didn't make a difference if you did try this, occasionally i switched to user catch and i would get warped animations. 2k actual meant you had to keep your guy in a position to catch the ball, also it allowed you to make up for thr QBs inaccuracy and jump infront of a CB to get to the ball.

OL/DL - Still miles ahead you can actually come off your blocks properly, and the stud players will dominate the scrubs.

The difference is that 2k carried a lot more momentum in the players which did mean that you couldn't cut on a dime. Linebackers aren't supposed to be able to get everywhere. Also on 2k i feel i have full control of the DB when i play. Using a safety in madden i just cant get the results because of animations and the way the CPU QBs play.

I just hope this year we see a realistic differential between players. I want the elite players to really stand out and take over a game, i know the ratings system has been changed so i'll see. But too often in 09 elite guys were playing the same as the average starters.

i didnt read all the post here but the screenshot. is that supposed to be snow? because i am wonder if that shows that there might be dynamic weather in this years madden. because to me it looks like it is either A) a really cold game.
or B) it just stopped snowing and now its just cold.
aka dynamic weather possible for madden 10.

Question for TheWatcher,

Had the dev kits allowed it, would you have put your 2k5 disc in at the end of the night?

LMAO at this Coach Ruckus character!

I figured there would be A$$holes who automatically assume that they would've served the sim community better than we did. I'm not even going to bother going out of my way to validate our sim credentials. But one thing you should know before spouting off at the keyboard: The only football games I CURRENTLY OWN are 2K5 & APF 2K8 and I play 2K5 frequently. Ian & Phil certainly didn't invite any fanboys down there.

I hate to say it, but I guess that's jealousy rearing it's ugly head. I don't look down upon anyone just b/c we were the fortunate ones given the opportunity. But looking at it the other way around, certain characters (yes characters) are attacking us w/out any facts. Do your homework before you come with fists swinging.

Thanks. I just had to do it, lol. I would've never forgiven myself if I didn't.

Ian is right. I didn't pop in 2K5 once. And there is a good reason... I of course can't go into any specific detail, but I'll say that the gameplay feel in the build of Madden 10 I played was strong enough to keep my attention away from 2K5 and that's saying A LOT... and it was just an ALPHA so my anticipation for what the final is going to be is even higher now than before. I saw things in that build that if tuned just right in the final is going to make this game a monster and a serious relationship killer (i.e. you'll have to find a chick that likes playing Madden or watching you play it while you hog the controller, lol).

This game on the field is on the way up and it's undeniable, but what they do in this last two month stretch is VERY critical. It's a very delicate thread though; they're going to have to nail their majors strongly and make sure it's all air-tight and a lot of it is going to come down to how it's presented in the finished product.

Before I met them and talked to them face-to-face I might've been skeptical of them doing it, but after the fact I'm pretty much expecting that they will make it happen. I got a sense that they really are giving it their best shot. I've had interactions with other teams in other companies before and I didn't get that feeling at all, so this is a plus and it's currently translating positively to the game.

I don't expect perfection, but even on a game-winning drive you can throw some incompletions and still score and win the game... I just want this to be a win for everybody this year.

see this is what im talking about. No one even asked about the cheating. no one asked about the qb running 50 miles back. the bs kicking game, It seemed like they picked a group of guys who dont really know about x's and o's when it comes to football.

Why wasnt the first question hey Ian why dont you go outside and run back 35 yards and chuck the ball 70 the other way.

Or the question: how come in nfl fever people can make their own playbooks, why dont we see the same ole plays? see they picked a bunch of guys who dont really know football

KANE699 said " I still enjoy 09 and think it's as fun a sports game" are you kidding me??? This goes to show you that EA picked some guys who didnt know x's and o when it comes to football "a fun sports game" Football should be a fun game it should be a sim game.

So the qb cheat is a fun thing

the wr cheat is a fun thing

guys we need to ask these guys harder questions Ea wont bring in guys who know real football so for the guys who dont know much please ask better questions

your telling me the the common issues are run blocking (what about the qb running back a million miles back or running right to the sideline??) i give you guys some props on the line play but come on.

Ive gotta do a dear madden on this one lolol
Coach, this is where I say something like this: I don't share your mindset or understanding here. We can disagree on the bold point and still be cool. But, and this is not to be arrogant or brag, but I'm not going to have you or anyone else come on here and tell me I don't know my **** X's and O's wise. You might know yours too. We might know different systems and have different perspectives, but you aint going to tell me what I do not know, and what I know other guys who went down there know. Could you have done a better job, who knows. But what you have in the blog are parts and snippets rather than the entire conversation and all the feedback. You are making a big "ruckus" and don't even have the entire conversation, nor the context.

Lastly, make a distinction between, what is implemented in a game; what can be implemented in a game; what is polished; what is still going to be worked on; and someone's football IQ.
