Is that the best you can do???

First video shows he threw 35 yards total.

Second video showed he threw 53 yards total.

Now the most important thing that helps you prove our point is this.......

Russell has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and even with his ARM STRENGTH he still had to SQUARE UP HIS SHOULDERS AND PLANT HIS FEET to get the ball off that deep and accurate.

In Madden you can run back wards without ever facing the WR, Planting your feet, Squaring your shoulder and just flick your wrist and throw 70+ yard down field as if your the Bionic man.

I like the idea of more control for user DL players, i play DE always going for the sack and my repatoire is pretty small either i make a direct cut outside or try to outrun O-line on the outside, engaging usually means wasting too much time.
Hopefully i will have more weapons this year

I'm tired of this bull**** straight lies with no source to back it up. I just turned on my 360 and did this in two seconds. I ran back 10 yards...not even 30 as crazy man coach ruckus suggested (I don't think you realize how much 30 yards really is).....and these are the results.

I want to see this video in madden. Do you have proof? 30 yards back then throwing 70 yards without squaring.

edit: Well in the words of Myth busters "Consider this myth BUSTED

IMO there is only 1 QB who could do what people do with below average QB's in Madden. Michael Vick could run laterally and still throw a bomb but he was still inaccurate with it.

The one thing I can't stand to see in any football game is......

Someone running backwards in a full sprint or totally backwards and throw 80 yards accurately without ever squaring up his shoulders or planting his feet LOL. When I played Madden 09 the last game I played was against a guy who used the Steelers and sat Big Ben in favor for Dennis Dixon because he was a faster QB and he would run around with him every which way and throw accurately to a WR 80 yards down field.

Does this happen in APF 2K8? The running with the QB backwards happens to a new user until he lealizes it ain't Madden. If you do this in APF you will not be able to have any mustard on your throws and your accuracy will be greatly hindered not to mention the game will make you square your shoulders and plant your feet. You will also have to wind up to make that deep pass not just flick like in Madden.

I think the mandatory drop backs for the QB will work ok as long as I can still do an occasional dropback similar to this, with success..................http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80c8e9b3

In this Packers play, (actualy it's something Favre started to do, and now Rodgers also does it) It's a called run play in the huddle, and with some form of communication between Rodgers and Jennings once they are lined up, the two of them have a private audible between just the two of them. All the other players on the offense still think it's a run play.

Rodgers takes one step back and throws to Jennings on this Quick slant. He actually has to throw almost as soon as possibe to avoid an illegal lineman downfield penalty since they are still run blocking.

If I see a defense playing one on one with Jennings, with a cushion like that, down by the goal line...... I hope I can make the same kind of quick throw like in the video. If there's an accuracy penalty for throwing earlier than on a 3 step drop, then I hope it's not too severe for real short throws like that.

Anything that Ian and co. do to tone down the cheese play is great news. I hope we don't have to sacrifice some levels of realism (like this quick pass) to ensure that the cheesers can't abuse some elements of the passing game anymore.

Edit... I didn't see this post by Ian. This thread grew so fast it went up many, many pages from when I started to make this post and I missed it. Thanks for clarifying about the forced dropbacks Ian.

- You can still throw at any time, with penalties if the timing is way off (i.e. lobbing the ball on a streak in your first step out from under center)
- As of the community day you couldn't break out of it until he was fully set. After that day (and other playtests) we moved up the branch out point to be a little earlier.
- We also still have to add the ability to allow you to move out of it if there's major pressure (i.e. a screen play where guys are directly in your face...obviously you don't want to take your final steps and set up...you want to keep backpedalling)

This is a change strictly for realism. It's part one of many to reduce 'run and chuck'.
