streamline if you can film yourself running back 30 yards and chucking the ball 70 the other way ill send you 100.00. but like i said most of you kids like cheating Now dont get me wrong EA is doing a few good things but If they ever made the game sim People wouldnt play it. because in order to play real football you have to know Xs and Os. not just get a snap and run a million miles back and chuck the ball

- As of the community day you couldn't break out of it until he was fully set. After that day (and other playtests) we moved up the branch out point to be a little earlier.
- We also still have to add the ability to allow you to move out of it if there's major pressure (i.e. a screen play where guys are directly in your face...obviously you don't want to take your final steps and set up...you want to keep backpedalling)

This is a change strictly for realism. It's part one of many to reduce 'run and chuck'.
I was just ready to stop reading this particular thread tonight, due to the time and the length of the thread, when I got to Ian's post above...clarifying the forced dropback. His first point above about being able to throw at any time, but the throw will be much less effective if you don't (or can't) allow for the QB to take his designated dropback steps, is exactly what I was thinking, and hoping Madden 10 would shoot for. EXCELLENT news, Ian.

Just fyi...2K5 had this very aspect and was very specific during the game's Offensive training segments to point out that your QB would be much less effective if the dropback timing of the called play was off. And the game played true to form (somewhat based on Difficulty level, of course).

I do believe that the higher a QB's scrambling ability, or more accurately, a QB's "throw on the run" rating, the better chance of completing a pass if the dropback steps are disrupted...but completions should not be automatic for these QB's or else everyone will want to use these guys to just run and chuck. Examples-Big Ben and Romo. These guys should do slightly better than guys like Warner or Leftwich when dropback steps are disrupted or broken off.

Great news towards bringing even more reality to the game, Ian and Team. Good stuff.

The problem with Madden Fans and 2K Fans is there is a big difference in the kind of people who play it.

Madden IMO was made for kids and had very easy controls and gameplay. No real football knowledge needed.

2K5/2K8 was made for the real football fan. This game is much harder to learn because it is like real football. You can't take a kid and put him in the starting 11 on a football team and expect him to be any good without learning the game. 2K makes you have to learn real football physics and more just to play the game and because of this it caters to the more Adult crowd.

Honestly if I had to rate anything that Madden has above APF 2K8 right now it would be easy because there is only 1...

Madden wins in......

Graphics

ESPN 2K5 / APF 2K8 wins in......

Game Play
Animation
Physics
X's & O's
Commentary
Customization
Playbooks
and the most important thing is ONLINE LEAGUES!

Madden 09 Online Leagues were laughable but when you can have 2K online leagues where they provide free of charge a site dedicated to your league with player stats, record of game & more.

When talking to a 2K fan you should understand what we see can be done. With what has already been done years ago still has not made it on Madden even though they have the most money and the NFL License makes it very frustrating for a NFL / Gamer fan.

Any one who plays football knows thats not IN THE GAME anyone who watches football knows the same. but most of you kids dont see that your too happy over towels.
None. your point? lol everyone knows that these are not in real football, I didnt have to play football to know that. So I cant be happy over towels and dreads.( Im the same guy who started the 16 page dread thread that im sure some dreaded.) If you have been reading the Ncaa or Madden blogs you would be more optimistic that these will be fixed. The pocket blog and qb ratings (throw on the run) alone should stop these issues imo. Be cool homie. Are you related to "Uncle Ruckus" off the Boondocks? Thats how you are coming off.

Most importantly, both games lose in the cheerleader department. I can't believe there's not one Madden team member willing to put in some quality time, long hours, and extra detail on the ladies. Blitz: The League wins there.
