To clarify (since I'm not 100% sure what you mean) the feedback they gave in that mindmap was actually from their time with Madden NFL 10. I was giving the point that when you add new stuff, you can expect for it not to be tuned perfectly so their comments pertained to a lot of our new systems and animations.

EDIT- Please don't think I made this post in order to defend Madden. Quite the contrary. I made this post because I WANT forced QB drop backs on plays that require it. As I post at the end here, it is rare that a QB doesn't drop back like a play calls for, because in the NFL passing game (especially the West Coast Offense), the progression of the receivers and when they will be making their respective breaks is supposed to be exactly timed with the QB drop.

A hypothetical example... (these are all quick releasing routes)

Read 1- makes break the second QB hits back foot and steps up

Read 2- makes break the second the QB takes his first hitch

Read 3- makes break the second the QB takes second hitch

Dump off route- leaves blocking and turns toward the QB to receive the ball as soon as the QB goes through x amount of receivers.

When an NFL play calls for a 3 step drop, the QB makes a 3 step drop. When an NFL play calls for a 5 step drop, the QB makes a 5 step drop. When an NFL play calls for a 7 step drop, the QB makes a 7 step drop. When an NFL play calls for a waggle or roll out, THEN the QB moves laterally. When an NFL play calls for a bootleg, THEN the QB moves laterally.

You need to add 5 more points to your Madden rating, so that it hits +++, and then you need to multiply that difference by -1 and give that product to yourself for this error.

Average Score: +1.2 out of -5/+5 scale.

That's a 6.2 for a 10 point scale in case that's confusing.
Now just add in the correction for the -- rating that you gave that should have been at least +++.

Yeah, I know, it's rude, but the only times a QB EVER doesn't drop back the amount ordered by the play are with busted coverages where a WR is left alone and on a few types of hot routes. So, +++++ plus -- to account for those two factors gives you +++, which is what that rating should have been.

It should be fairly evident that it's all new stuff when we're talking about thing like "pocket doesn't set up fast enough" - since Madden didn't ever really have a pocket.

Granted, but not really an excuse. I won't pretend to have your level of code knowledge, but when I find a problem that can't be fixed by modifying the code as-is, I trash the code and start from the ground up with an eye towards making sure the same mistakes don't happen again. That you failed in this is a bit worrying and that you wouldn't have caught it at all without input from the outside community is even more so. What's really, truly scary is that a rudimentary knowledge of how football plays are supposed to work should have caught the mistake and pointed you in the right direction.

Watch the video of Lombardi breaking down the power sweep, it shouldn't be hard to find since it's pretty famous. And in the future I would suggest employing testers who have more than a rudimentary knowledge of football theory. You guys are making a football game, c'mon now.

Unless...

Control is the key. All of what you said may be true, unless some circumstance makes it not true. If I need to set up and throw right away, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO. Forcing me to drop when I can see the all out blitz coming is a BAD THING.

We need less of this "forcing" us to do things.

Ok understood, my initial point was just a little reserved. I know there is plenty of time to fix it and that it takes time to sort things i just found it a little odd the same points had come up again. But don't worry i'm keeping faith and sticking with this new team and hopefully all ends well.
