I completly agree about the socks, I would say 95% of players have the solid color showing with most of their sock with just a little white. This is a detail that would make the screens look much more real. No one wears their socks like that.

Screen shot is fantastic. But I would have to say you guys get a little bit to excited over ONE screenshot. Lets calm down a little bit and wait until we see the game in action from our playing angle, or atleast wait until we get more screenshots.

64 pages for one screenshot, in March, is insane. Possibly in a good way...

I don't see the problem in people getting excited. We finally have refs and chain gang and they have added hand towels, superbowl patches/endzones, field blur etc.

There's a lot to be happy about

Yeah, basically it's confirmation that they're getting back to the basics and showing the attention to detail that Madden has so desperately needed these past 5 years or so.

It's not so much "OOOoOooo purdy graphics" as it is "wow, look at all the basis they covered, these guys really do give a damn!"

No one feature that's been announced... Procedural awareness, WR/DB interaction, QB play, ratings refactor, purdy graphics, hand towels, Superbowl art, etc... no single one factor has anyone all that excited. It's the sum total of all of the above and the knowledge that we're still 4 months away and there's a lot more to come. Being a lot more to come wouldn't be enough of the stuff we've seen wasn't the right stuff (oh oh ah oh oh, oh oh, ah oh).

After five years of David "You guys wouldn't understand" Ortiz, we've got a guy who understands us and is making strides to show us he has some pride and wants to be the best at what he does.

To David Ortiz, we were a tiny, insignificant slice of the market. To Ian and Phil, we're the 1%ers. We may be few, but please us, and you know you've got a classic.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Screenshot (Peter Moore Blog)

^^Exactly. Great great post.

You know madden has always had problems when transition to new consoles. PS1 was probably the worst, this current one being the second worst, and the PS2 transition being the best due to the graphical leap. David Ortiz had his heart in the right place but he just wasn't getting Madden back on track fast enough and not to sound harsh... I'm really glad that he is gone.

LOL, I read multiple times about David Ortiz and thought yu guys had it about Big Papi. I wondered how that would tie into an NFL game.

Lo and behold, Google came to the rescue!

Is David Ortiz the guy we have to thank for just adding a truck stick for one year, new uniforms the next, add a single new touchdown animation the following one and rehash the same game (plus roster updates) for sooo long? Good riddance IMO.

Hopefully Ian listens to what we gamers want and actually delivers a game we want to play.

Oh, and Ian, add selectable touchdown animations in the vein of PES (about 2, which would pop up much more frequently than random ones. random ones should still be done by the touchdown guy, and their frequency could be excellently controlled with a slider. For instance, Barry Sanders and LaDainian would very rarely, if ever, celebrate) in your Create-A-Player/ Edit Player feature.

I add emphasis on random ones, because for example Wes Welker got fined for making a Snow Angel, which could be considered a random touchdown animation based on his current scenario (a game played in snow) rather than that he would always make snow angels upon making touchdowns. So a slider to determine frequency of random touchdown animations, rather than the one or two trademark ones per player, is an excellent way to control them. Player who makes a lot of random ones (Say, TO or Chad Johnson etc) simply get their two (or even absolutely none) trademark ones aside with a 100% on the random slider, making their celebrations truly random.

Please consider this seriously.
