Nevertheless he connected on a 3-1 count and sent the pitch over the LF wall again. The replay showed the pitch was 10-12 inches off the plate, knee-high. As Blzer and others have pointed out, it was a definite programming issue last year.
I played 2k8. I thought it was sort of fun, I liked the controls but it was incredibly arcadish and unrealistic plus the stadiums and framerates were pathetic. It was a bad game. I'm hoping 2k does better here. We will see. If it's improved and gives fairly realistic games out of the box I will be happy. I am a nut when it comes to realism as well and getting realistic situations and want the same things you do. But I'm just not expecting miracles here. I think this is 2k and they always drop the ball in some gameplay aspect.

I also played 2k7 and thought it was pretty solid once you tweaked the hell out of it. The tweaking hte hell out of it was really a pain though. Yeah you had to turn off inside edge. Still way too many hr's in 2k7 plus that fielding at the wall thing was ridiculous with the wall grabs.

This game looks so much better than both of those games.

This game is quite beautiful. Major upgrade from 2K8.

I was watching those dumb icons trying to remember where'd I seen them before. You hit the nail on the head.

My thoughts exactly. Why not just put some static scores up there? The scoreboards look ridiculous completely empty like that.

EXACTLY. And that picture ends the argument. The fact that people will still try to defend it just shows a blind loyalism, which gets SO OLD, and seems to be more rampant than ever in these 2K forums. We can't even discuss the positives and negatives in a civil matter anymore without a handful of characters (usually the same ones) bombarding the thread with "What are you talking about, this game is beautiful!!! You clearly are a Show lover!!" Blah blah BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

As so many have said already, THE GAME LOOKS IMPROVED, no on has said it doesn't... but it still has blatantly obvious flaws (ex: this homerun). I think everyone with the common sense to view things with a level head agree that VC looks to be taking it in the right direction, it's just not quite there yet.

I won't excuse the homerun in that video; it's pretty bad.

I have hopes for a good set of sliders though, including the Hit Influence Impact (or whatever it's called). That could prevent people from pulling low and away pitches 450 feet into the stands.

Obviously, it's a different developer so the chance is there that it's changed. I don't personally have a problem with it being possible to happen as long as it's not like it was in previous installments. We'll see for sure soon enough.

EDIT: To add, I'm actually on the opposite side of this concern/curiousity (whatever you want to call it) than Blzer, for example. I was more bugged by the Ortiz's shot (based on the previous problems in the series) than Markakis. At least he sort of went with the pitch. Ortiz mostly pulled the outside and low pitch. To each his own though.
I don't watch boston that much. But I know a lot of hitters pound outside pitches for homeruns and pull them. Vlad G., Frank Thomas, Joe Carter for example. I have absolutley no problem with it. If I guy pulls the ball alot, he'll pull outside pitches too (usually to left/center if he's right handed).

The LED boards in the outfield at Dodgers work:

You'd think they'd include the same animation as the LCD ribbons in Rogers (the team logo scrolling). But leaving them blank is pretty weird-looking.

Since we have not played the game yet, any of us and don't know what the end result will be I won't say it's all fixed...
If you have watched baseball and I know you have, players hit balls out of the park on terrible pitches, ugly looking swings etc. Manny hit a memorable HR last year completely out on his front foot and a horrible looking swing. To be surprised that Papi can hit a ball out anywhere should not be a surprise. Now if he hits 80 in a season it's a problem. As a Mariner fan I have been watching Vlad kill us for years on balls that are nowhere near the strike zone and they always seem to fly out of the park.
