Ok I am one who bought A ps3 (When it was 600.00 no less) just for The Show.
Yeah I love The Show. However time doesn't stand still and things do change.
Will I still prefer The Show over 2K9 this year? Probably, but has the gap been closed some? Absolutely.
What The Show has added this year is pretty awesome and is mainly due to the core gameplay being great. 2K had a good amount of work to do in the gameplay department IMO and it looks like they have made a great step forward. If this keeps up, in no time they also will be able to focus on the extra stuff.
Bottom line is we as baseball fans are big winners this year.

2K looks like a very fun game this year and I for one will have it day one along with The Show.

Allow me to remind everyone that we don't want to see pointless back & forth regarding The Show & 2K or statements proclaiming the superiority of one title in the other forum. Millennium was quite clear in his "Read before posting" thread. Please keep this in mind for both forums...

I am one of those people who bought a PS3 last year for just the show. But I used the Blu Ray player as a selling point to my wife. Those of us married will understand. I also own a 360, and I played a demo of MLB2K8 on it, and it looked pretty but really sucked otherwise. So I am comfortable saying that last year The Show won hands down last year. This year I believe it will be a little closer. Won't really know until early March when the reviews start pouring in. So I'll save my opinions until then. One thing, those people saying that MLB2K9 has poor throwing animations, as an artist, I don't think they look very different from this year's The Show videos. But like I said, will just have to wait a bit longer to actually see the final results.

Excellent post. I'm in the same boat as I actually traded in my 360 for bluray and The Show.
But I'm very excited to try MLB2K9 out. It looks like VC is on the right track so who knows how good this series could get?
Poor VC, how many more games do they have to bail out? (NHL, MLB...someday maybe an NFL game? )
