Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

I was playing on legend mode last night and had sort of a glitch I think is worth mentioning.

I had a guy on third base tagging up on a ball that was really shallow to LF. There is NO WAY this guy would ever make it but I tried it for the sake of it all (or to see if i could get the fielder to make a throwing error). I tagged up (even the announcer said its too shallow to try and score) and scored. Now what happened was the animation from the LF (CPU) lolly gags the ball to the infield (P - cutoff) and I was safe by a full step.

This should not have happened. Don't know if this would happen all the time but thought it should be brought up so we can see if this is gonna be a common occurrence.

Anyone else see this?

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

I scored a game winning(well a 4 inning game winning) run on a suicide squeeze last night with the Phillies. J-Rol doubled to lead off the inning, Werth flew out to right allowing J-Rol to get to 3rd, and I decided to try and catch the Rays off guard with a 1-1 count suicide squeeze and it worked!

I cannot wait for this game.

Im playing on Legend and i still cant score an f-n run. EVery 6th or 7th game ill hit a jack with Howard, but outside that, i cant do squat. I can draw walks, but i cant get a base hit to save my life. You guys using guess pitch? Left stick? i am determined to play on Legend Mode but i would like to actually hit the ball out of the infield every once in awhile.

I use Guess Pitch Tater and the L-Stick. I don't score very often either, but I do get a few hits. The most I've gotten in 4-innings is 4 though, so...not sure how much of an improvement that is over what you're seeing.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

This demo is the first time I have been able to play this series for a significant amount of time. I must say so far im impressed overall. I am absolutely in love with the pitch counts I am getting. The fact that i'm not very good combined with me and the cpu throwing balls is great. It's nice not having to take the first pitch or two just to get the cpu pitcher to throw more then 6 pitchers per inning.

I was playing on veteren until last night when I decided to jump to All-Star and what a mistake that was. Just making contact was a game in its own so I'll need to get more practice before the game ships. No complaints on the hit variety yet but im seeing too many runs scored on homeruns.

The only things that bother me are fielding and throwing. Both feel very empty to me. I think SCEA should focus some attention to these areas next season. I don't like that when my player gets to where the ball is he just stops making it impossible to over run a fly ball. The throwing in this game is the worst i've seen in a baseball game in a long time. Not every player in the major leagues has a Nolan Ryan arm.

I'm really looking foward to diving into the franchise mode the most. From everything i've read about it this should be a very deep and time consuming mode for me.

Hopefully this game plays well online because it would be a shame not to be able to get involved in a league. Looks like my 2k league won't be coming back so boys Areobee401 is a free agent. Send Scott Boras an offer and we will get back to you.

I average about 1.3 walks a game and maybe 1.5 hits a game. I cant hit. Very aggravating. I tried No guess Pitch, i tried guess Pitch, and i just absoltely suck. What kills me is when i guess pitch type and location and i get that flashing red circle, i still cant make solid contact. I know right where the f-n pitch will be and i still hit weak grounders.

I switched to wide batting view and upped the HUM timing slider +1....in the first inning of a game I tripled with Crawford, Homered to Center (422ft) with Longoria, singled with Joyce...I am seeing so many different results every game...I only play with the Rays by the way...

You might want to hold off on that thought of playing on Legend mode until the game is released in two weeks. The demo is a watered down version. I know there are a lot of gamers who feel that going to the lower difficulty levels isn't macho enough, but try Veteran/All Star with some slider tweaks. I'm not ashamed to play on those levels.
