It's part of the A.I comeback coding, cause after this happens, the A.I will string together a couple of legit hits, then a 3 run bomb to cap the rally off...And usually the HR comes via the A.I pulling a low and away fastball.
*shivers* Bringing back bad memories of my 2k8 Brewers franchise.. Bad things man, badddd things.

The Inside Edge is killing this game for me. Specifically the pitch selection. Watching this video just reminded me, I can't bear the catcher calling for offspeed pitches in, like a changeup low and in side. Sometimes pitches end up there, of course, but rarely on purpose. Furthermore, last year you'd get punished with the pay-off pitch in that if you didn't hit the spot that the catcher called for with two strikes you'd lose effectiveness of that pitch.

I know what you are talking about, especially with 2K8, but I never saw it as a gameplay issue. It's just extremely difficult to make sure he's in the right spot. I wouldn't attribute it to come back logic.

If it's extremley hard to get him in the right spot, that IS a gameplay issue.

There is no excuse for that happening.

I wouldn't attribute it to come back logic either, but I do think it's a problem in the gameplay. I have had this happen to me plenty of times in 2k8, where I had the player in the exact right spot and they don't try to catch the ball. I hope it's not a serious problem in the retail version because this game looks a lot more promising after all these videos. I like what I've seen so far(besides this)...

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video (Gamespot)

I'm really surprised by the negativity here. I think all of the videos I've seen so far look excellent. Sure, there are some graphical glitches and some weird animations sometimes, but this looks like an extraordinarily fun game to play. And you know what? There were weird glitches and animations in MVP 2005 and in High Heat, the generally-accepted "gold standard" for video game baseball. We got over them because those games were great.

I also can't fathom the "rocket arms" comments. Pujols scored relatively easily on a sharp line drive into center field. Fukudome has a decent arm, and Pujols is a slow turd. It seems to me the play should have been even closer than it was.

And on the play where Soriano lets the ball drop right next to him, the user didn't go back far enough on the ball. Sure, it would be nice to see an animation where Soriano reaches for the ball and misses it, but the end result is the same. The user misplayed the ball, and the ball rolled to the wall.

It looks like it's finally going to be possible to distinguish between balls and strikes, and the real-time atmosphere is absolutely incredible.

I understand the frustrations with the previous iterations of this game, because I share them. But I can't believe people are reacting this angrily to the same videos I'm seeing.

I think it works both way though. To be honest most who have gripes with the way the game looks aren't bashing it. Just as most who have good things to say aren't bowing down to it.

You have to read between the extremes. The trouble is there are people here who are intent on trying to discredit any criticism of the game at all. People who like things just the way they are and make sure to jump on anyone who differs in opinion.

I think the constant defense of every single criticism leads to some of the outpouring of frustration by some (obviously there are those who will never be positive).

I'm not really surprised by any of it to be honest, as it's a usual cycle this time of year. Some people (on both sides of the fence...positive AND negative) are too caught up in their loyalties and try to state their opinion as fact for all.

We should all be able to differ in a respectable way. Sadly, many here (again, on BOTH sides of things) are bent on personalizing a videogame...lol. Oh well...must be baseball season

As I said before, I have my gripes, but I do see a level of improvement.

Looks pretty good, in my opinion. It won't be perfect, but it certainly seems playable. (This is just after 3 videos, though, so who knows)
