I totally disagree with you, but that is cool. I think animation look great in the Outfield.

As far as Jimmy, His leg lift is really subtle and doesn't do it all the time(just like some players who make tiny changes). Wish I could find his '07 highlights, I bet it shows a lot better there.
The thing is batters change their swings a lot. Mostly becasue they get in a funk. It happen when you play 162 game schedule. When you see his hands lower than they used to be, that is probably because they are in that funk. That is why they have batting coaches to get them back to their regular swing. I think you need to trust SCEA. They seem to look at a lot of videos. I think they know what they are doing.

Unhappy Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Ugh, after 10 or so playthroughs of the demo, the double-dive I alluded to here is still in.

I dumped the game off last summer as this is absolutely game-breaking for me.

I guess that serves me right for getting excited again....

edit: I'm certain some will say this is minor but imagine losing a hard-fought 14-inning playoff game. Well, that's hard enough but what if you lost because your RF joined your 2B in an animation dance simply because you attempted to make a relatively routine diving stab for the ball.

In MLB 08, I snap-reacted and tried to lunge and the game punished me. I refuse to not do something realistic because of a video game. I already went down that route with 2K and EA....

I'm very disappointed, if only because it took me this long to see it. I would've rather the double-dive be nearly automatic, like last year, so I wasn't strung along.

So I guess that's my cue to exit. Thanks for answering some of my other questions and providing the community with screens, tidbits, etc. I hope everyone enjoys the baseball season and MLB 09.

edit 01: And, as I touched on in the other thread (I wanted to state this before some accuse me of overreacting), in MLB 08, the double-dive occurred 9-out-of-10 times. I never really noticed it until I played often -- just seeing it again puts a bad taste in my mouth, one I don't want to experience again even if it's only one-out-of-10 times now.

edit 02: I also wanted to stress that, until that moment, I was absolutely in love with the demo. Turning off everything (including API) and pitching with the catcher, plus all of the other great fixes/improvements.... I'll say it again -- I'm very disappointed. Hopefully, the double-dive is addressed.

just played the demo for the first time today. Looks great and plays well. While I feel I can pitch with the best of them, hitting is near impossible for me, any tips to get ready for release day?

Wait....I thought you were selling your consoles because you didn't have time to play anymore because of your family?

Practice practice and time the ball. Thats all you gotta do just play enough and try to watch the bal RIGHT from where he releases it like watch his hand the whole time until the ball is released. Im not sure what else besides USE BATTER/PITCHER ANALYSIS!!!!! Many people dont understand that those arnt cheats but actually what is real in the game. Many players talk to each other and coaches during the game and others to see where the pitcher is locating certain pitches and what the situation is. Batter/pitcher analysis is just a sum up and shows u where u shoudl expect the ball to come.

Also I found a problem in the game guys. So Parod, Knight etc. (sry for butchering the name if i did) did u guys ever have any problems with infielders diving over the ball. The last few games ive played rollins and utley i dive and they never get the ball i just assumed i wasnt the best diver and i needed to practice but i went to replay and it showed they were diving over the ball.. either it went under there stomach or went right below there forarm I never understood it and when I try not to dive (thinking im diving in a non-dive situation) they never catch up to the ball alot of the time...
