Basically I have no idea why i get these black bars while playing BUT....

All I care about is that in Mlb 09 I can fix this very easily...

I just hope that idont have to re adjust everything everytime i boot up my game.

So to answer our question: I dont know why, but mlb 09 has given us the option to adjust the screen so our problems are solved.

Lol I am so happy because i just figured this out today
I have a Samsung TV.

The other day I was doing everything I could to fix the chop thing in the demo and I switched my PS3 HDMI to HDMI 2 on my TV and all of a sudden I had the black bars as well. I put it back into HDMI 3 and they went away.

Very strange, but you may want to try that, put your PS3 HDMI cable into HDMI 3.

no it's not just samsungs, it does it on my acer lcd and my pioneer plasma, and once you set it it will save for that particular tv so you don't have to readjust everytime, that's the retail game i'm talking cause the demo doesn't save the settings.

On the Samsung, HDMI2 slot reduces "input lag" if you renam HDMI2-PC, wierd I know, but I did this and the show demo runs flawlessly in 1080p. Sounds funny but it sometimes looks better than an HD broadcast of a real game

Since you like it, does that mean I should make a post saying you are wrong for liking it? I am not complaining. I was simply stating my opinion. If fact, I think the Show is an amazing representation of the sport. Leaps and bounds better than 2k's past efforts. I am just wishing some parts of the game weren't so stale to me.

Also I am buying the game day one, and will have a great time with it. And to respond to your other comment. I am NOT a 2k baseball fan. I am really not a 2K anything fan. Not even NFL 2K5!! Do I hope 2k has an amazing baseball game this year. Damn right I do. Everyone else should too.

The last thing I am going to do is sit here and complain about the show. I said how I felt and thats it. In fact if you look at my post after that, I said I was enjoying the demo more the more I played it. There are just a few things about the game I would like to see changed. Sorry if that offends you, or anyone else.

Oh and to let people know. I am a show veteran. I have been playing this game since MLB 98 on ps1. I owned EVERY mlb, and mlb the show game since 98.
Wow, you must really have dedication to be a veteran. I remembering buying a playstation just for mlb pennant race. The mlb series have always been always locked in animations, remember total control fielding and all the mumbo jumbo. I actually believe that it did not become a sim game until mlb 06, it was always too much of an arcade game. I just wish microsoft would have done something with the high heat license By the way, i do love the demo and to imagine how much better the game will be. I do agree that it is somewhat annoying that the outfielders really dont' feel like you are in control but its the sacrifice you have to make so your players take realistic angles so you have more xb hits.

thats great news. I was trying to rationalize it figuring that maybe it was accounting for a slow outfielder (as the first time I saw it was with Matt Stairs), but tonight it was Crawford who went slow-mo.

Someone should start a thread addressing the hdtv black bar issue.

I know some people who had the same problems as me, but like I said earlier I figured it out. (I posted about the fix in earlier post) I only have 2 hdmi slots on my tv so yeah changing those doesnt do anything. I just changed the screen position when i paused in mlb 09 and turned my video settings on my tv to just scan.

Anyways i will stop talking about this issue.

I wouldnt worry abotu it too uch since the demo is about 2 month old developers chew toy....

I love the new outfield routes, sure makes the game ore realistic because you dont go full speed through everyball, There are ore errors or missed balls which is realistic idk gotta wait and see for the real game

yeah, I love the new routes as well...so much more realistic. This wasnt actually a "route" that I saw, it was just running straight to a corner where the ball was but the player stuck in slow motion.

I'm sure it will be worked out before 3/3!
