Not to get nitpicky because it would depend on what time of year, but in June and July it doesn't get dark until around 9 o'clock. Based on an average paced game that started at 7 that wouldn't be until the 6th inning.

Believe me, the transition is amazing the way it is, and I could care less if a game started and was dark by the 4th.

I was merely curious.

Two of the new foul ball swing animations look just like batting stance guy

Ryan Howard has his custom warm up swing.

Victorino looks like he has the jitters. Ruiz has the right motion but just way too much. Most of the stances are better than last year though.

After you pick your pitch and move the cursor, if you let go of the cursor... will it go back to the middle, meaning you have to hold the cursor where you want it while you do the meter?

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Ok so I know this is a demo so all the framerates and other crap doesnt bother me a bit. Here are some pro's and cons to what I think about the game. If its early build stuff then someone from SCEA stop me as to I have no idea what yall fixed and didnt.

Pros

Great hit variety-loved the different strokes in the game.
Pitch Break- Finally! A 2sfb that is nasty. Great tweak guys!
Crowd noise- much more realistic this year
Atmoshpere is upgraded to.
All the defensive gripes I had from last year are gone, much better on the sense of urgency.
Good to see a better attempt at batter/oitcher mocap!
Pitching was aweosme for me...loved the new meter
Cons
While some stances are right on, others are not really good.
Longoria - Think stephen drew and your pretty close- espicially with the abt movement, the one in the game is off. http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/media/v...631811&c_id=tb

Navarro- has a tapping motion with his bat and he doesnt lean as much. http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/media/v...536563&c_id=tb

With pena I know he changes it but he always keeps the hands closer to the body. In the game its kinda far away and looks weird

Utley taps his bat at the last second

The rest were good

2. Player models were off quite a bit as far a actual meat on their bones. Ryan Howard and evan longoria are skinny dudes in the demo but in real life they are huge. At tleast put them as having muscualr physiques. (This might be just an early build deal) When in doubt, the golden rule is a 6'3 215+ dude is now way skinny.Make them look athletic.

These are really my only gripes. For me it big and hopefully fixable but if not no biggie. Great game it seems this year and cant wait for the final build

The TV is like 2 months old too, never any problems. Let me know what you think dude, thanks.
Hehe...No problem....we obviously want every user to have the same experience with the game...and it's no secret that our graphics guys (as well as all areas of the game) kill themselves to make the game play flawlessly.

Have you tried '08 on your new TV? Just curious.

The fact that most users (including us) are not seeing framerate problems is a bit perplexing. I agree that some users may not notice it, but if it is as bad as some of you are saying, it would be hard to miss.

The only video I have seen of people outside this building playing the game has come from the videos posted in this thread and the videos on IGN, which were also from the demo.

They are here:

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/143/14307517/vids_1.html

I also know that framerate was not mentioned once during the community day...and those guys were not shy about pointing anything and everything out.

maybe its because i never played as the Phillies in 08 but at first i was having trouble timing my swing, i was always too early. Same with pitching, it took an inning to just adjust to the slight differences from last year but i still had a 1-2-3 first inning. The game feels sharper and smoother and looks amazing. Like i said before, maybe it was just me, but it did take about an inning or 2 to adjust to the pitching & batting in this game after being so used to 08 and not that pitching and hitting have changed but theres a minor difference in the way they feel at least for me but getting the demo a month before the game comes out will help me be ready by the time the game comes out.

I had trouble check swinging as well, i know others say they didnt, some say they did. I check swinged a good amount in 08 but couldnt do it in the demo no matter how light i tapped X but it didnt bother me cuz i know check swings will be fine in the final version.

Overrall i can tell this game will be better than last years. I am very impressed with the demo, the graphics, the lighting, the control, the gameplay, the commentary, just a great game.

I only played 1 game so far (4 innings) since i started downloading it a little after 8pm (65% connect), and it didn't finish downloading + installing until the beginning of overtime of the Lakers-Celtics game. But Hamels was pitching great, like i said before i was struggling with timing at first so Kazmir was pitching a no no through 4 and then Werth hit a walk off home run to win the game 1-0. The walk off celebration cut scenes were nice, whole team waiting at home plate as Werth jumped to touch home.

Can't wait for the final game so i can play as my Yankees

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

First, I'm not seeing any studdering or framerate issues. At all.

OK, some gameplay impressions. First game I played was on Legend. I got the Rays out 1-2-3 with Hammels striking out two. My first AB, I walked on 4 pitches. Next AB, walked on 5 pitched. Next AB, walked on 7 or 8 pitches. Bases loaded, 0 outs!

Out came the Rays pitching coach. All of a sudden Kazmir is doing nothing but blowing fastballs by me. K. Then another K. 2 outs, bases still loaded. Kazmir gets me down 0-2 and tries to get cute with a slider. He hung it, I was early but managed to bloop it over the SS and in front of the leftfielder for a two run single! The fans went wild and so did I.

Kazmir struck out the next hitter, so he actually K'd the side, but in between that was a hit and 3 walks! Meanwhile I had no problems with the Rays in the top of the first so I am up 2-0 after 1 inning. Legend mode? HA!! I was ready to conquer it! Slice it's throat and claim victory in my first attempt. I was on top of the world!!!!

So I lost that game 9-2.

Next game was on HOF, as I actually felt like getting batters out this time. I ended up winning 2-1.

Overall, I think I'm in love. The new fielding animations are awesome. The bat speed adjustment is awesome. Obviously we don't see many pitching animations (oney 2), but Hammels new motions looks great. The batting stances are such an improvement.

And LITTLE THINGS! One time as I came to the plate, I noticed the umpire looking at a lineup card. Awesome! Vendors walking up and down isles. Fans shimmying through rows. And I only played 2 games!

I really cannot wait for the full version!

Just finished my 2nd game, on All Star, went 9 innings 0-0 and Utley cranked a walk-off homer.

I'm terrible at hitting, but this game is awesome.
