The graphics are a upgrade form last year. The graphics in the replay and cut scenes of the player models look fantastic. They remind of a MLB 2k game but just more realistic. The lighting is a nice touch. The pitching meter has some differnt graphic which is something almost new. The crowd is good. I had a 3-2 pitch runner on second, crowd was going controller was vibrating , it felt exciting. The annoucing is as good as always. Still the best baseball your going to find this year.

The dirt wears well, but no so much of the chalk. The bases don't get dirty? The have the same fielding camera which after 2 years is very boring. Why no cutsecene right after the fielder makes the play with no runners on? The controls for fielding is still the same and does the meter even work?

Well, this game get my $60 this year.
As you progress later in the game, the chalk lines get pretty wrecked.

C'mon....Now I had to go and stop playing the Killzone2 demo, download our demo on the retail PS3 in the conference room and see what all the hub-bub was about....

Hooked up to a 52" Bravia via HDMI at 1080p... and I am not seeing anything like this. At all. Not even close.

You may have missed the numerous posts by the community leaders that this build is weeks older than the game they played at the end of January...you may have also missed the subtle message on the loading screen that says "Pre Release Demo" Either way, yes, this IS an older build....but with that being said, if you are indeed seeing "horrendous pitch and swing choppiness" I would suggest checking your TV settings...I am just not seeing this while playing the demo, nor while looking at the videos that bhurst99 has been posting...or from the videos that IGN posted from the demo...

If you are still experiencing these issues, feel free to PM with your TV make, settings, etc, and maybe we can figure something out.

Enjoy.

Love the game, no framerate problems here. Just hope they fix the check swing because I cant do it no matter how lightly I tap the swing button. I had no problems in 08.

unless it gets worst for retail then how is that so....
From the context of your sentence it sounded like you were agreeing there was a frame rate issue and that is what we were getting. My mistake.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Took about 3 hours to download the demo so unfortunately I was only able to get one game in tonight since I need to get my *** to bed because I have a long day of work tomorrow. I thought I'd post a few quick impressions really quick. I apologize if any of them have been repeated earlier, but I didn't read any of the impressions before I played so I wouldn't be influenced in any way. My thoughts:

- As we have all seen from the screen shots, this game is visually stunning. If it's not the best graphical representation ever of a sports game, it's pretty damn close.

- The lighting looks fantastic and is more than just a cosmetic addition. In the first inning when I was hitting and the sun was shining against the batters eye, I really had a hard time picking the ball up out of Kazmir's hand. As the game went on and the sun went away, it was much, much easier to get a read on the pitch. This alone is going to add so much to the game, with the lighting in each ballpark playing differently (or at least I would assume).

- The game feels much more fluid this year. Fielding seems smoother, as does hitting.

- Hard hit balls through the infield are just that, meaning that the ball really scoots through the infield. It seems as if the ball moves much faster this year when it's hit solid, and that's a good thing in my opinion.

- Ryan Howard and all of his mannerisms look spot-on. Pitching against him actually feels intimidating.

- It's definitely harder to pinpoint the location of your pitches, especially when the pitching meter is coming back to you. I think it will get easier with more practice, but it's not going to be as easy to locate your pitches this year.

I can't wait to play more tomorrow!

nah not at all....i am playing it on 1080p because i cant play this game on 720p on my samsung...there is input lag from ps3 to tv on anything lower then 1080p

there is small frame rate issues on 1080p but not enough to detract from the experience...i dont see it on 720p at all but the input lag is a killer for me when pitching and on shooters

the 1080p last year was horrible for the show...this year is much better
