The online sports MMORPG.
That is the real future of not only sports gaming, but all gaming.

Having users at most of the skill positions eliminates "cheese" as long as the game is developed to give the same abilities to OFF/DEF.

It might be the future but not for awhile. The audience you are preaching to isn't the most unbiased. We all here have internet and some (if not a large %) have a LCD/Plasma tv. I don't know the numbers but I'm sure the % of houses with this kind of tv technology is still low. People might not get online either because they are timid (when having to play strangers) or just don't have the ability to do so right now.

The hardcore sports gamer niche like it but most people won't stick with it, even if they sign up for it.

Multiplayer online games have the potential for a broader audience.

I'm not a fan of it because old "farts" like me have eroded hand to eye skills and can't compete. I enjoy the aspect of calling plays and having it played out based off of skill sets and timely play calling. I would enjoy a "Coach" only mode of online-dynasty play.

I think dynasty sim leagues are going to get more and more popular. People don't have time to sit and play 30-60 minute games, but they enjoy the management aspect of things. I know I'm working hard to expand pennantchase.com to provide dynasty like features for baseball.

I have played in a couple online leagues with OS people. Real nice folks and good sim players. But even amongst an OS crowd, it seemed 25% of the people would disappear in the middle of the season. And some of the guys were always tough to schedule games with. Meh, I suck enough that the CPU is plenty of challenge for me.
