WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 Review

The SmackDown series has been around for about as long as WWE Superstar Edge. In that time, he has been on the bottom as a member of the Brood; he has won the tag-team titles multiple times; dropped Christian and worked himself up to Intercontinental Champion; and now he is the current WWE Champion. Can you say the SmackDown series has been as successful? Well, read the review to find out if SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is the current title holder.

I agree with most of the review. However, I like the gameplay. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it. To me the matches seem to have a better flow this year. By far my favorite game in the series. I feel a 7.5 is fair, but I would give it an 8.

"Same tired gameplay." - That is what I feared and expected. This engine is badly outdated, a new engine with much better collision detection, less clipping, and more ways to interact naturally (flying moves).

When I saw that "Tag Team matches" was the focus this year, I knew I was in for a long year for wrestling. This is the first time in several years I haven't gotten a wrestling game. And maybe won't at all.

I still wish they would make an up-to-date, next gen version of one of the better games like Here Comes The Pain. Where you had a full year in season mode, slelected WHO you wanted included, what show they were on, face or heel, AND you could play, watch, or simulate every single match.

Even if it did mean using text for words, the voices are overrated

I agree with your review, I think the series needs something new and fresh. What i don`t understand is why can`t we get a good season/career mode. I thought that Here Comes the Pain and Shut Your Mouth did a good job with it, but ever since it has went down hill.
