Really hope in Madden 10 they make it about 3 seconds instead of 5 minimum or let us choose with a slider perhaps.

For someone like me who plays 5 min qtrs it was painful playing the likes of the Colts.
Yeah, it does make playing a longer gasme almost imperative. I actually like the delay (I play longer games though...lol) butt it should at the very least be a toggle option...maybe like in MLB games where you can turn off batter walk ups or other little animations.

what really makes me mad is that they made me hold on to my copy unitl now when the trade value is basically nothing..........

after playing live and fifa madden is a definate rental next year..... those games are so much better.....

the devs need to stay off the boards ...... dont come here and lie to people to get sales!!!!!

Re: Madden update DLC/3rd patch information

If they made the game too good, then you wouldn't buy madden 2010

BINGO!

Perhaps I was being naive in thinking the DLC had a real good chance to materialize, giving us CPU sliders (was that too much to ask for?). So I held onto my copy (actually kept it collecting dust on the shelf) when I could have gotten more cash for trade-in value. Now it's only fetching $27 at GameStop.

I've purchased four games this year. I think NCAA 09 (post patches), NHL 09 and FIFA 09 are fantastic and I've having a blast playing them. Everytime I look at my copy of Madden 09 with Favre on the cover I curse myself for not renting this first.

Damn, this blows. My Madden is going to hit that GameStop shelve tomorrow, I'm glad it was a gift. I could barely play this game as it is and with no more updates it pointless to own. There is only like 10 more months until Madden 2010 guys keep you heads up. HAhahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahhahahahhahah ahahhahahah

The DLC not being released is no big deal, IMO. Is it disappointing? Sure, but only from the standpoint of people having their expectations raised higher than they probably should have been. I asked in the other thread (rhetorically, mostly) what about the DLC would make the game so much more playable? The answer I got (as expected) was CPU sliders. Flashback to the last few years and try to think of one of the big gripes of previous Maddens (non gameplay related). SLIDERS. "They're useless," "They don't work," They don't do enough," Only some work, and not right." The list of gripes about the effectiveness of the Madden sliders was nearly endless. Yet, these are the "game-fixing, Madden is now playable" solution everyone was breathlessly waiting for? Come on fellas.

I'm not bashing Madden, because I personally think 09 is not too bad, but this is all just another case of expectations being too high. Let's say they did release the DLC. Most of you who are so upset now would be complaining that it didn't help the game or didn't work right, etc. I also recall some of those slinging the "it's official, I'm done with Madden" type lines right now, are pretty much on repeat from when patch #2 was released. You're no more or less done now than you were then. You can blame the "EA hype machine" all you want, but at this point, I don't think people can say they bought the game in anticipation of any great improvement. The DLC was never promised or even probable. In fact, there was quite a bit of caution on the part of the devs when it came to DLC. I will watch Madden with reservation as I do each year and make an informed decision about whther or not to purchase. There are aspects that frustrate me too, but I'm not all ramped up because I know what I payed for (basically HC, plus another fair football game...lol). Again, it just seems to be another case of expectations exceeding reality, IMO.
These are all easy remarks to make if YOU are satisfied with the game, however, I think you're in the minority as far as that goes (or it's at least 50/50 now...read the thread about "is Madden broken"). I've seen some pretty hardcore Maddenites jump ship this year...myself included.

For me, sliders held at least the POSSIBILITY of having a current NFL game to play this year....now that pipe dream died with this announcement.

Re: Phil Frazier Says No 3rd Patch or DLC For Madden 09

I am so glad my pretty girlfriend went away, and my not so pretty ex-girlfriend came back, seriously the 360 madden is way to overrated, to many things missing, with this said, i am much happier playing the Ps2 madden, at least we know what we are getting, and it is a pretty good game, not great, but at least when i play now, i have something to smile about, thank you ex-girlfriend.
