Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Ive been around these forums for years and only as a spectator. I couldnt participate because i didnt have a next gen console. I finally got an xbox 360 about a month ago and Ive been playing NBA 2k8 all this time and ive been blown away by it. Imagine my amazement to see this demo come out and showcase so much improvement. BTW I dont know whats happening with the PS3 demo but the xbox 360 demo is absolutely gorgeous, no "jaggies", not texture issues, the game looks and plays like a real NBA game.

Anyone else getting low framerate on the first FT attempt like last year before they patched it? Sure is making it hard to hit the 1st FT.

W00t, just got my hands on the demo. After 2 games... Rondo shook me with his signature move, the one where he ball fakes to one side, spins, and lays it up with the other hand. It was sweet. I can definitely see Rondo being useful in 2k9, whereas in 2k8 because of his crappy ratings and the fact he was nonexistant offensively (thanks lockdown D) he was worthless.

It doesn't seem to me the speed is faster than 2k8. Maybe because I'm used to a fast breaking mess in 2k8 when I play my roommate. Anyway, the players do feel a lot heavier and there definitely is more footplanting.

Isomotion is also weird for me now...Can you still pull off moves without the modifiers? Or do you have to use a modifier?

Also it doesn't feel like I can backdown on command, or maybe I just need to be guarded close enough to. Not sure, haven't played long enough to figure it out.

I think switching to EZ Iso will remedy alot of folks having issues using Iso with this current set up of controls IMO.

Iso motion is back to 2k7 style

I'm having trouble shooting off the dribble in PS3 version. Is there a way to do it on command? Or coming off of a screen?

I took me quite a while to figure out the new system but I finally got it. Just keep playing around and it will click for you guys. Basically you can't do standing still iso moves anymore. Flicking the stick back and forth while not holding turbo isn't going to let you change hands anymore with a casual crossover. You can't really play with the ball as much, at least I can't yet.
