Another nice bit of realism is that dropping off Rondo and just letting him try to crash in for a layup or resign himself to uselessness is a great strategy for a possession or two. In fact it almost feels like a cheese, ever since I've been doing it I keep getting these long runs with the Lakers, otherwise my games are always really close or me getting my *** kicked.

A big thing I KEEP forgetting to mention is the steals - I love that it's a bunch of different animations now, not just the hand flapping. But bigger than that, I love the situations it creates if you get a steal. For example I was Fisher letting Rondo bring it up the court, and from the top of the arc while he's crossing the halfcourt I press square and Fisher just goes after that ball mid-dribble, pops it directly to the basket as Kobe is catching up behind it - 4 steps, slam it home with no one around. Best play I've made so far for sure!

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3 Only For Now)

Here are my impressions (+/-)

Positives (+)
-Player movement
-Great foul animations
-Loose/jump ball sequences
-Fast Break logic
-Offensive/Defensive sets
-Player Spacing
-Live video for intro
-Nasty dunks
-Actually showed current Shooting % in overlay
-Graphics (after 1080p /sharpness tweaks)
-Actually calling charges
-I was fronted by a defender and got pass intercepted
-Help defense
-Rondo around the back layup
-Animations!!!

Negatives(-)
-players looked like glass figures
-Players seemed smaller (perhaps farther cam angle thank 2k8?)
-Anouncer sometimes says only last name? (was that in 2k8 too?)
-Multiple White shirt guy in stands walking aimlessly
-Non-randomness of foam finger crowd animations.
-Noticed some iffy end of quater logic (shoot after time expires down by 2)
-Same into music during pregame right before tipoff (come on 2k, give us new music at least)
-I saw rondo pass behind his head to player 3 feet behind him?
-Slow steal animation (def risk/reward...more risk IMO)
-They called penalty situation on first foul (charging foul)
-Annoying pass/block sound bite, (did 2k8 sound that annoying?)
-That mystery guy clapping echo (you know what i'm talking about)

Overall great impression Demo 9.5 out of 10.

I have to go to sleep.. unfortunately. Finished off with a beautiful Kobe to Bynum oop as time expired though. I'm loving the steal animations as well... or hte attempted steals.

Another note... Kobe beats Ray easily... and taking it to the tin... Garnett just fouls the **** out of him, sending Kobe to the floor HARD. Garnett just sits there above him.. glaring... Kobe gets up gingerly.. and it zooms in on his face... He's grimacing pretty badly.. and starts holding his back. He has a nasty scowl on his face... the camera goes to KG who screams something... and back to Kobe... Shoots a FT... grimaces again... hits the second... and continues play. It was amazing looking.

BAH! First instance of "I wish they had the Euphoria engine..."

I'm watching CPU vs. CPU just to see some animations, and Kobe gets out on a break after an ill-advised corner 3 from Ray Ray, but Allen catches up as he's going up for a MONSTER dunk over Rondo and knocks him face first onto the ground with the old 2K8 punch 'em in the back of the head animation (it seemed Odom loved to do that last year). Only, the way the animation worked out, Kobe's lower half would have landed on Rondo's shoudler and he'd of done a front flip onto his back while knocking Rondo out. Which would of been really epic.

As far as the rim and net goes, the ball bounces off of it good but, honestly...I think this build is Beta, if not less than that. I've said that a couple times. The net looks, to me, a little less realistic than 2K8 but again I don't think all the physics and everything are in place in this demo so we'll have to see in the retail (or Pared could comment possibly).

Rondo's not a great offensive weapon like you'd expect, but if your idea of a good time is weaving in and out of the paint and dishing it from all sorts of places, this is your guy. And the second he passes, it seems like his first option is always to slash right to the hoop, he takes a lot of great angles on that but the Lakers keep noticing it and shading toward him for a second. Fisher is dirty because it's on Pro, I doubt he's this great on All-Star but 2K does like to put the spotlight on a couple guys every year it seems (Brewer last year was pretty bad IMO).

OF COURSE right as I say that I take control of the Lakers and Rondo slaps a latent layup out of Odom's hands under the basket and sprints it all the way back to the other end, laying it in around Kobe and Bynum while drawing a foul. Vintage (?) Rondo.
Rondo is a good playmaker and defender not a scorer...I have ray,KG,and Pierce for that
