This might be a stupid question, but where exactly do you download the patch? I was only able to access the roster update from starting a quick match.

Good point and thats not a good sign, hopefully there is a way around this since it will really kill late game situations when the CPU is trailing.

This game was worthy of playing 15 minute quarters, now with the patch its even more so. Now the cpu takes some time before hiking the ball which gives us more time to make our adjustments and the clocks to keep running. Thanks EA, now if they could just fix the backs coming out of the backfield, catching a pass and not going out of bounds in both NCAA and Madden. Has anyone had the cpu wide outs bail out the qb by being the first player to touch the ball after being out of bounds it happens in both games (NCAA more)? They tend to catch a pass after they go out after the CB guarding him gives up since that player is out of bounds. That's a penalty.

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here

Played 6 games into my new franchise as the eagles. 6-0 record 725 madden IQ rating. In 6 saves i've had 5 interceptions and 1 fumble forced/recovered. 3 of the ints and the fumble were user done the others was cpu

Pros:

-CPU no longer runs out of bounds like crazy like they did previously
-Man coverage seems improved
-Cover 3 was improved
-CPU breaks tackles well and runs the ball well
-CPU will throw deep but not as often as you'd expect them to
-Only had the game freeze on me once
-Time of possession for the cpu is improved
-My WR's actually drop passes more often now which for me was rare in the last patch
-Having better success getting sacks without even bringing the blitz. After 6 games i have 10 sacks which is not bad

Cons:
-Punt/Kick coverage is still terrible
-CPU play calling when down and not much time left is worse then the previous patch
-CPU is terrible at field goals/punting
-Pancakes are improved but not anywhere close to what the CPU is getting.

And there is no such thing as Robo QB. The only people who think there is a Robo QB are the ones who don't want to believe they just suck and can't play defense and need a excuse. Sure, maybe the CPU QB goes crazy in the 4th qtr when down but most the passes i've seen them do have been to open WR's. It's not like they are doing crazy stuff to get these yards.

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here

The above post has some good points and that's pretty much what I'm seeing after a couple games. I'm basically playing with the myskill feature ive been using

pros

-field degradation is better although its still not what you see in the highlight screen
-completion percentages for the cpu seem to be better and more plays are being made on the ball, and drops etc.. i've also gotten better and wasn't really having a problem before with robo qb, so i'm not sure if its the patch, playing a bunch of games in teh rain to see field degradation, or just me. coverage does seem improved though.
-TOP for the cpu is improved
-the cpu will fake snap and try to draw you offsides
-the cpu sideline stuff appears to be fixed

cons-
-I'm still able to complete way too high a percentage myself. Im completing between 80/90% of my passes and the coverage ai is still really poor. It may be improved slightly but i can still get those plays where a guy is open 99% of the time.
-the end of game time management is screwed up now. the cpu will come up to the line let 5 seconds tick and then call a to when they dont need to.
-i never get that feeling that the cpu is a threat to return a kick against me.
-its too easy to kick fgs.
-the cpu was 1-3 against me last game and lost because of it.
-the cpu running game is still very inconsistant and needs to be beefed up.

havent checked the franchise stuff but im assuming that is better as well. Overall i guess its better but ea continues their trends of taking a step forward and steps back at the same time. Also havent noticed an increase in penalties in the two games ive played, although im using default sliders with that. It's still a good game and I like it but it still has flaws. If anything i'm finding this game too easy like i always do once i get the hang of it. now that the cpu isnt completing passes like they were it seems even easier to me. All in all this game has great potential but still has some serious balancing issues like it always does. It's still mainly a head 2 head game at its best.
