Nice article, TCrouch. This is a very good read.

Perhaps my main problem with online circuit racing is when someone goes off the track with all car/bike tires and immediately tries to get back on at a far slower speed, which is a blatant no-no. People who trailed close behind yet stayed on track going optimum speed have to slow down and are even at risk of getting into collision with that person, which both scenarios could've been easily avoided. Basically people who negotiated the track correctly get unfairly penalized for someone in front of them who makes a mistake.

And even though this is a touchy subject as far as online racing is concerned, I am one not to mind allowing contact in racing GT cars, sports cars and stock cars. But the problem with this is that many people get carried away with contact and thinks it means deliberately running competitors off the track completely. They simply don't know the difference between rubbing and bumping. I think a little side-by-side grinding while on a straight or while fighting for space through a chicane is good as long as both drivers have enough room to stay on track. Doing this in open-wheel cars and bikes could be rather dicey, though.
