But I don't like the shooting and how there's no real release point, and why does every block get pounded into the ground? And other than the shooting which is very quick (maybe a little too quick) everything else, switching players, passing, and just moving around feels sluggish and unresponsive. Defenders seem really slow to get into the right position too, I've seen them just stand at half court looking stupid. In zone D they seem to stick to their zone too strictly. On one play Garnett got the ball by the basket with Gasol right next to him, but instead of guarding him Gasol started running back to the center of his zone.

Another thing I just thought would become standard is showing the play art on the court like 2k8 did. It's great for guys like me who know a little bit about basketball and want to play sim and run plays but don't exactly know what to do in every situation and don't have high basketball IQs.

And finally, could someone explain what exactly does what on the right stick? I'm kind of just pushing it around in random directions hoping something good happens.
That happens in Live 08 too but the best way to use the zones effectively is to control everyone, but still that is a bit annoying. Its like the AI has no brains at times.

Horrible footage on Pasta's part. I didn't see him call one play. He played poor defense. The turnaround 3 by Allen.

He played it so poorly. Reminds me of the old IGN 2K footage.

some ppl are really negative toward this game - which is fine, that's their opinion - but i wanted to post some positive feedback for beluba and steph.

i really like live and was sort of "forced" to go to 2k the last couple of years because live was so bad. the demo looks really good to me and i'm excited to get back to EA basketball. i can't stand the control (or lack thereof) in the 2k games. i think the game is heading in a good direction and i'm excited to see what happens the next couple of years.

One thing I can say from that demo vid is that it doesnt look as bad as some are making it out to be

Another thing with both major bball games i cant understand is why do they pass the ball overhead passing when its not necessary

Didnt see PG domination

Some shots still look too fast.. they need to fix that ugh

Some of the animations look quirky, but IMHO

The gameplay is going to be very very important on the lasting value moreso than animations for this game.

Wait until you play it. The issue is more responsiveness than anything else. When you see a video, you can't tell that someone pushed that button a good 1-2 seconds before the player responded. It's not horrible, and once you start working with it, rather than expecting it to be something it's not, it's a basketball game. I think Sage said it earlier; it does feel like basketball. Great basketball? nah. Good basketball? honestly, maybe not. Decent basketball? Sure.

Re: NBA Live 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

Floaty passes and stopping to catch the ball really kill the flow of the offense.

Spent a significant amount of time with the demo to say and I think I'm leaning towards not purchasing it for the 4th straight year. I hate to say that too because I really wanted to have a second option for basketball this year since basketball games are the only games I can play year round and never get sick of them.
