Those games should have been tested better and not released with those bugs, too.
I do appreciate them patching it. As far as I'm concerned, it's the least they could do.

The game went Gold on June 30th. The NFL and their release schedule mandates that the game must be released in mid August. Sports titles go Gold no later than three weeks before release. So the latest the game could have gone gold is July 15 and thats pushing it because if Sony or MS found a bug during certification there is a chance the release date could be pushed back by weeks. They had to go gold around that time to guarantee their release date.
You really need to think a little more before saying things that don't make sense. The game went gold on June 25th which is a fact. Let's just assume you are correct in saying they need it to go gold three weeks before release date to meet the ship dates. That means the game didn't need to go gold until July 22nd. They could have had four MORE weeks to work on this game and fix most of the issues even before it went gold and this wouldn't be a problem now!

I think it comes down to this: the hardcore sim players need all the features and we need them to work properly. If you are a casual arcade video football gamer then the game probably does seem fine to you with the work arounds that somewhat fix the problems.

A couple of points:

1) There are work arounds to the lack of CPU sliders. The dummy profile system works well and eliminated Robo QB and a poor CPU running game for me. Some people arent willing to do the little bit of work it takes to do the workaround but if you are a hardcore gamer you should be willing to do that.

2) Its silly to sit around w/ Madden and hope that they patch those features in while your game losing selling value. Two years ago, the game had the fatigue issue and EA promised a patch but didnt give a firm date. I hated the game w/o fatigue so instead of waiting for a patch that didnt come until October, I sold the game for 51 bucks on Ebay. If the DLC does come through then you can just as easily rent or rebuy the game at a reduced price on Ebay. Same thing last year with the turnovers.

3)I'm not a casual player but I'm not as hardcore as you guys. I dont care about the field degrading or hand towels or any of that ****. I care that it plays a solid game of football and with the workarounds it does.

You super hardcore guys are always going to get the short end of the stick. You wont be happy unless the game is super realistic and the game will never be super realistic because the super hardcore sim gamers make up a miniscule part of the market.

Re: Two Weeks of Madden 09, and Official Patch News!

guys,
for whatever reason, some some systems are being bricked by this game.
Just because some people are lucky, and its not happening to them doesn't mean its not a major issue.

to all those who are happy with the game right now. How would you feel if your ps3 or xbox 360 died from crashing over and over?

would you still take the same stance?

I personally have not experienced my PS3 being ruined by Madden, but I truly feel for those who have.
its not right , and I will not just dismiss this because I am personally not having this issue.

EA needs to be held to higher standards than this.. releasing an unfinished game is just not acceptable, or this will just happen again next year..

They could have just taken the money and started adding these features for 2010. And if they did that a large majority of you would still buy this game in 2010.

Also your car analogy is pretty weak. You cant drive a car w/ three wheels but this game is still playbale even with this bug
That is because you aren't crashing every other game. Put yourself in my shoes and that of the people that can't get past franchise season 2 or 3 (that bought the game only for franchise mode). As nice as it is all of these other things were fixed/added, and believe me I am grateful of that,
franchise mode was broken for myself and a lot of other people in the state it was released in and patch 1 didn't fix it.

I appreciate the help from EA on the game crashing workaround (rebooting between everything that loads). This atleast lets me play it until the patch. But I am worried about the couple of years into my franchise that it is going to crash. I am starting to sim ahead to see what happens.

There is another crashing issue that makes me nervous but I haven't seen someone I completely trust post about it yet.

Again I want to stress I am grateful for the added fixes, progression was a huge one for me.

Just a guess, but I'll bet those four weeks were needed for the MS/Sony cert process (and any possible necessary fixes that might result) and to allow for the manufacturing and distribution of the game.

I would be upset but I would have a warranty so I could just swap out the system.

Yeah, robo qb has to be fixed, they will just not take a sack, the AI QB throws two yard passes and passes into coverage, instead of eat the football, and they are rare drops by these receivers with double coverage. w'sup wit that?
