Don't get me wrong. I do thank them for addressing the issues, but I am left with the feeling that the good will is misplaced.

It's like buying a new car and finding out it only comes with three wheels, then going back to the dealer two weeks later to get the fourth wheel and saying, "Man, you are so great for giving me that fourth wheel. Thanks. It's awesome."

The truth is, whether you want to admit it or not, the game should have never been released. All the things fixed in Patch #2 should have happened in pre-release, not in post release.

That is a fact.
Because they didnt have to fix all of the things they did. They didnt have to add features like Accelerated Clock or CPU sliders. Plenty of people (including myself) are fine with the game post patch 1. Ive found workarounds for my major issues like Robo QB and CPU subbing and the game is pretty good for me. They could have just taken the money and started adding these features for 2010. And if they did that a large majority of you would still buy this game in 2010.

Also your car analogy is pretty weak. You cant drive a car w/ three wheels but this game is still playbale even with this bug

You are right! They didn't have to fix anything but nothing should have been broken in the first place!

To me having the game missing the cpu sliders really is the same as having a car that is missing the 4th tire: the game is not playable offline vs cpu and the car can't be driven. I know my copy of Madden has been collecting dust while it waits for the cpu sliders being added back in.

I think it comes down to this: the hardcore sim players need all the features and we need them to work properly. If you are a casual arcade video football gamer then the game probably does seem fine to you with the work arounds that somewhat fix the problems.

This is rediculous! Robo QB and lack of a pass rush aren't being addressed??

I highly doubt that the DLC will ever be released. When it doesn't go live EA can just say, "well it's microsoft's fault, we wanted to release CPU sliders." I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Why isn't CPU clock management being addressed?? This completely ruins the single player experience! Thanks for nothing EA!

Tell that to the people who can't play their franchise because of freezing, or have had their system fried by constantly having to reset following crashes.

I love this board. People spout opinions about things they have no idea about.

The game went Gold on June 30th. The NFL and their release schedule mandates that the game must be released in mid August. Sports titles go Gold no later than three weeks before release. So the latest the game could have gone gold is July 15 and thats pushing it because if Sony or MS found a bug during certification there is a chance the release date could be pushed back by weeks. They had to go gold around that time to guarantee their release date.

Well Ian and company are certainly doing more than the previous lead designer of Madden.

But seriously we can't just excuse a broken game and one that is missing ALOT of features that were in last gen.

It's great they are fixing it but it's a REAL shame they had to fix it in the first place. It's great they are adding a lot of the sim oriented features after release but THESE FEATURES SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN THE GAME!!

At some point these things should ship WITH the game and not have to take dev cycles after the fact.

And I'm sorry if it takes away dev time from 2010 but tough crap, we just gave EA 60$, we deserve a complete and working game instead of always waiting till next year. The game was just released a couple of weeks ago, fix this game we just bought before moving onto 2010 or you may not get our money next year.

Sorry but taking dev time away from 2010 will just need to be done to give us what we need NOW in this game we just bought.

I'm enjoying this year's game, but I want more freakin camera angles to choose from and I have not heard one word about this issue from the devs in a couple of months.

So yes it's good Ian and company are doing more and yes it sucks that these things did not make it in the game.

That doesnt change my point. You act like this is the first game that ever had freezing problems. Multiple 2k, EA and Sony sports games have had issues like this and how did they fix them? They patched the game. Thats what EA is doing now. Like I said EA could have just fixed the freezes and moved on but they didnt and I think Ian deserves some credit fior that.
