Re: NBA 2K9 Video Footage (Multiplayer.it)

The best part is where he said its not about 50 new features its about features that matter. haha. Love the cheap shot to EA.

Personally i think the court looks bigger which is a good thing. I know people say court spacing is horrible, but to me it looks better then in 2k8.

Video is fairly dark. I want to see a better video with better lighting. I think its just a handheld cam version. So with that even the sound is going to sound different.

Re: NBA 2K9 Video Footage (Multiplayer.it)

Well I have no complaints with the vid. Truth be told, gameplay wise, I was hoping for two fixes. One was the passes into the key for easy layups by the CPU. It's cheap and takes away a lot of fun. Number two, the auto animations an offensive player is forced into once someone initiates lockdown defense. I wouldn't be mad if lockdown D was done away with all together to be honest. Sometimes I use it by mistake just from the habit of using L2 to get in a crouch positions from earlier games, but mostly I try to avoid using it period.

I do agree with the commentary complaints. Even though it's not the highest on my personal priority list, it was kind of lame hearing Kellogg repeat Kenny's lines. He didn't even really change the way the lines were said. It was almost like, why even bring him in? I will trust simballer's word for now when he says it's an old build and we haven't see/heard the new stuff added in. I will say, if money is a problem in regards to having these star commentators repeat lines just to have them walk out on you, I wouldn't even mind if their were NO star analysts. Just get a couple of hungry voice actors willing to go cheap for some work. I could really care less who's doing color commentary, as long as it sounds nice and authentic.

Again though, I will trust Simballer and 2K on this one. My recent experience with 2K is exactly opposote of my recent experience with EA. EA has given me no reason to trust their the hype they put out every year and throw my money down on day 1. 2K however, has. So until they burn me, I am all in. I've no reason not to be.

The foam fingers and towels being waved in the crowd is SOOOOO SWEEEEET! I cant wait for this game. This is a early build so i have faith that everything will be fixed by shipping time. They usually dont let us down too much.

Re: NBA 2K9 Video Footage (Multiplayer.it)

First off, 2K9 will be pretty similar to 2K8, and I think a lot of us see that right off the bat. However, this isn't a bad thing at all. 2K8 was a great game of hoops, despite its numerous flaws, and short comings.

2K/VC has built on the success of 2K8, basically by adding new features, fixing past issues, adding more awesome animations as usual, more polished graphics, as well as smoother animations, and an improved A.I. (Artificial Intelligence AKA CPU).

One of the first things I noticed was the positioning and spacing. The positioning by the A.I. was amongst the biggest flaws found in 2K8. It looks much better so far based on whats been seen. Just look at the KG post fadeaway on Gasol. Look how great the positioning was by Gasol, and thanks to the improved A.I., he quickly got a hand up, and did a pretty good job of contesting that shot, but KG is just too sweet!

On the subject of A.I., WOW they actually try and rip the ball from you now, not just on ball, off ball as well. KG actually tried to strip kobe when he got into the paint. Players seem to react more realisticly, and definitely much smarter. When Kobe crossed over on Allen, and got inside, Perkins was forced to leave Bynum, who immediately noticed this and cut str8 to the rim. Kobe then finds him, but notice how Perkins attempts to recover by getting back in position and trying to effect the the layup, not with what would have been a ******** swat block attempt in 2K8, but a regular block attempt, simply going for the ball. This is awesome! You could tell the game was on an easy difficulty level though.

Regarding the commentary, Kellogg was in the game for maybe 3-4 days at the point when this build was made. Yes, we kept SOME of the same lines that Kenny had, but there is also a LOT of new content. At the time of this build, none, to very little, of that was implemented in the game. You guys are looking at footage that is 1/4+ of a year away from shipping.

We're not going to let you down; the level of yelling and excitement I hear from people playing around the office on a daily basis is more than I've heard in years. Top to bottom, this is easily the best game in the NBA 2k series. You don't have to take my word for it; you'll see for yourself in a couple months.
That's nice to hear Simballer, I knew while watching the video that it was probably an early version of the game, and it still looked pretty good for an early build. I can't wait till we see the final version of the game.

The sprint anamation looked better. Other than that, it looked about the same.

You all ever think about not scripting the lines? Why not let the commentators freestyle to clips? It would probably come off much more naturally.

Whatever you all do, don't give Kellog the, "It ain't easy, son!" line. I don't think he can pull that one off.

And are you all working on the sliding? Last year I remember one of you mentioning that it was a concious decision to allow for some sliding. Is that still the case or will we finally see more realistic movement?

Looks mighty promising!

Rondo's legs moving rapidly on that fast break looked more realistic...

Am I bugging or are they mixing in some audio from 2K8? I think they've done that in the past being that it's not finished.

2K has gained my trust over the years and I trust that it'll be the epitome of virtual hoops AGAIN and crush all competition!
