We aren't 14 year old kids who just got here.

Bill Harris, Bill Abner, Rhombic, LBzrule, myself, tater etc.

These are guys who are grown men, have played this series throughout its entire existence, and are pretty much experts on the game and its nuances.

And this is by far the most extreme and the most frustrated I think we as a group have been with the AI.

I can handle a few too many "pick sixes".

But the complete and total castration of anything related to good defense...good pursuit angles, effective pass rush, potent blitz packages, sound pass coverage.... is infuriating.

This is THE game for me. This is it. I am a college football fanatic. And my one single "game of games" in my library has basically become an arcade game as it stands right now.

No defense, just offense, offense, offense...all game, every game.
I highly respect your (& Abner & rhomhic's also, don't know who LBzrules is, I'm sure he's dandy too) opinions/observations regarding this game, and highly appreciate everything you have done to expose the steaming pile of total offensive garbage NCAA09 really is.

I also agree with you on nearly EVERY issue you have brought to light the last week or so. It is so glaringly broken that I don't see how any sane person could not see it.

If these issues aren't addressed or if the group that is unhappy, which I would consider "respected" among the gaming community, is simply dismissed as "whiners" and not representative of the majority of NCAAers, then I may seriously, for the first time ever...reconsider buying this game next year until I actually see what it will be like.

That's a big statement for someone who will pay 40 bucks just to have the game shipped to my house overnight on a Saturday this past year and every year prior.
I don't want to sound like a d!ck here, but this is exactly the reason why nothing will ever change with EA.

If someone as diehard & knowledgable as yourself will simply "reconsider buying" next years product even after the utter mess that this years product is, what incentive is there to ever change/improve/fix anything?

Imagine all the kiddies out there who just play the game for fun, and don't get all hardcore on it like we all do here at OS.....do you think the issues 2009 suffers from will deter them any more then it will deter you or I?

Until consumers step up & refuse to purchase the product nothing will ever change. And that's not a knock on the developers themselves, I'm sure they care fine & well about the product they produce, but it is a knock on the executives at EA who only care about the bottom line profit. And the attitude from the executives filters down throughout the company, that is completely visible by playing this game (& NCAA2008, 2007 etc.).

Honestly, it has gone totally downhill. I used to buy the game, play it for awhile, and start to notice some issues over time. Kind of like finding out your girlfriend of 3 months has a webbed toe (not ideal, but also not a deal breaker). I used to take time to find the problems. Sometimes you weren't even 100% convinced there even was a problem.

NCAA 2009 is like finding out on the first date that Suzy has a lazy eye....and a penis. The issues are so glaringly obvious that you pretty much find them within playing 2 or 3 games. Issues should be getting more difficult to find as the versions of this series advance, not easier to find. I just speaks to the overall mentality of the corporate giant known as EA.

Sorry for the rant.

Im outta here for the night, ill be back, as usual at 745 AM EST to catch up, and hoping to see some progress somewhere. Hang in there guys, maybe we'll get something.

Just out of curiousity, are MS and Sony putting a rush on the first patch? Or do they only take 5-10 days usually?

I don't believe so, they could care less. I remember the patch for College Hoops 2K8 came out 5-7 days earlier on PS3 than on 360 so maybe Sony either puts a rush on it or is quicker in general when it comes to patches.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

guys, this thread has gone from informative, to bad, to ridiculous, to now boarderline pathetic.

This is supposed to be an informative thread on the patches. People come to this thread in hopes to find information on when the patch might be available and what it may contain. Instead, they are finding all this nonsense. Hell, we've got guys starting new threads in the forum asking questions that they should easily find in here, but they can't. This thread has become hijacked by people bashing EA, complaining about the issues that we've heard over and over and over again. We get it. The game has issues. People are upset. I completely understand people's frustration.

And then we have guys making comments that it would be nice if Adam would give some information. Or it would be nice if a gameplay guy came in here. If you were them would you? And even if they did, how would you find the info they post?

Guys, this has got to stop. This thread is for discussion about the patch, its arrival, what it contains, and updates from Adam, Ian, or whomever else from EA. This is not a thread to bash the game, the developers, or EA. So lets gets back to what this thread was meant for and knock off the rest of the crap that isn't necessary in this thread. People shouldn't have to sift through countless posts of this other nonsense to find the info they are looking for.
