I think they were talking about patches on the jerseys and other cosmetic things like they had in the old gen games. Personally, I feel that EA has bigger fish to fry than to worry about that stuff now. Maybe next year.

Then the user can set his preferences. You could even have an all out arcadish experience if desired (although I wouldn't desire that). 2K was always better about their sliders although they aren't perfect either. Plus EA has never let you tweak enough sliders like 2K. More sliders in the future that work please.
Thats the reason AA, and I, and others are saying that the sliders being fixed will NOT help this years game. If we were a notch or two off, then the sliders would help, but until they are re-done in the manner we are talkign here, the slider adjustments arent big enough to fix the defensive issues.

We need those issues resolved on their own.

Im hoping that EA isnt saying, well the sliders is an easy thing to fix so lets do that as opposed to fixing the real issues. Im trying to have faith.

They will stick to the wide open gameplay mantra this year and that's all there is to it. Any unbiased and objective person can see the deliberate speed cheats and lack of pass rush in the game..as well as the superhuman phsycic quarterback ..EA banks on people who want a casual arcade like experience and I can't fault them it makes them a ton of money..Madden will be out in 2 weeks and NCAA will be a memory for alot of gamers. So the heat will be off of OMT and the NCAA team. They know that ..they will make minor adjustments with the second patch and since it becomes less of a priority it will be out in maybe October...I rented and will wait until it's at a bargain used price like I do every year. I have gamefly so it really doesn't matter to me. The EA reps are here for spinning purposes and sales ..they do a good job of it as people fall into the trap every year... AA just enjoy the game as is the fix you as well as a buch of folks are looking for aint going to happen!!!!

This sums it up nicely. Personally I am going to concede that this is about as good as its gonna get it and a "gameplay" patch is wishful thinking.

As much as we'd love to design the game 100% hardcore, that just isn't feasible. We have to make a game for a whole spectrum of people that may decide to purchase it.
Now I am fairly new to looking at some madden info as I haven't bought madden in years but am probably going to this year, but I believe they have a mode called "hardcore" this year where they disable some of the things like the "weapons". Has there been any sort of discussion as to whether or not that might be considered for NCAA?

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

AA's last post makes me smile(as does the post he quoted)...

I made a point at release when these problems were starting to show-up...its time for the work on all the "pretty-pretty" to stop for a year and WORK on the game play.

Make the most beautiful game known to man...virtually like watching a live TV game and people will HATE IT if it plays like POOP!

Make a game that looks like NCAA04 that PLAYS and RESPONDS like REAL college football and some people will STILL hate it.

Truth is, polish up a turd and its still a turd...

A set of WORKING sliders that actually affect the game in a measurable way is the only way to make this game have the mass appeal they are wanting. Those who want an arcade game, they could have it...those that want hardcore sim, they could have it too.

EA(or any company/game) will NEVER get a 100% approval rating but…BUT, the above solution will get you close.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

The Kick return problem I am starting to not see as a problem. I kinda like the fact that there is a element of fear that someone can potentially break a big on on you if you are not careful with your kick off coverage. It could maybe use a tweak, but the way it is now the game does make kickoffs more than just an event to exchange the ball.

This Rocket catch thang though, we need a heavy discussion on that problem.

Thanks again.
I have tested them out in practice mode and I do think the cpu FG and Kickoff sliders matter. However, punt length is based only on the human slider from my testing. I could be wrong but I moved the slider from 0 to 100 and didn't notice anything when testing it out.
