Good point. I would have no doubt that a few OSers would find most of the problems within a short time frame and would do it for nothing. I really don't know how realistic this is from EA's perspective but I know it would definitely help identify the problems.

EA's testers suck? Some of the bugs that the game ships with are completely unexcuseable. People in the community are finding them after having the game for a day or two. How can a group of testers not find these issues when they play/test the game for over a month?

That is the problem that non-EA sheep have with NCAA/Madden. It is being released with bugs each year that clearly should have been caught in the testing process. If a typical game player can find a broken feature in the game in 2 days, it leads to the impression that EA doesn't care about us and isn't testing their games.

I really think most of us could live with the general AI issues that occur because we realize that creating a complex football game can be difficult and you can't program for every situation. What we can't live with is when a game ships with broken or buggy features right out of the box. We pay $60 for a good quality product and expect the features that are included and advertised to work. We rightly complain when they are not.

Would you be happy or satisfied if you bought Halo 4 and some of the guns didn't work? Maybe after you picked up a certain amount of guns, you are then unable to pick up a new gun from that point on and some of the other items in your inventory disappear. Would you be happy that you had to wait on Bungie to release a patch that made the game work correctly? Wouldn't people be furious that Bungie didn't catch something that was so obvious in testing?

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

Since we have the "ear" of an EA dev I figured I would make a couple of points:

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet (not going to skim a 40+ page thread), but a buddy and I noticed a change of possession issue the other day. I stopped him on D and he was forced to kick a long FG. The FG was short and my return guy caught the kick in the back of the end zone and the play was blown dead due to his foot being on the end line. Instead of the ball changing hands, he got the ball again going in the other direction. Is this something that will be addressed in the second patch?

Also, we are not your testers. I realize you guys have a shortened schedule with these titles because they are annual releases, but a month or so of proper testing should have caught these mistakes.

I am of the opinion that they don't hire or wouldn't go out of their way to hire OSers or even people who actually play the game in a real world situation (i.e. naming all rosters, exploiting broken plays) because then you would find a truly, truly messed up game; and almost by definition, OSers would find so much to complain about (sorry, recommend)[not that anyone would be wrong, I mean, bowl patches, proper stadiums and sounds, proper stats, etc. are part of actual college football] there would be no way they can actually fix everything without blowing it all up. Then when the game is released there will be even more outcry because nothing OS recommended or told them was broken was fixed. They have to wait for the game to be purchased first before they go "my bad" and patch your affections.

My biggest problem outside of the roster issue is the way the players run, it is awful and no one runs like that in real life...sure, the bodies twist in motion but they do not rise or fall (bounce)...its creepy. The players also "skate" on the turf, still....what is this, the umpteenth gillion time that has been mentioned? There are obviously certain things EA has no chance or desire to fix. My suggestion is that for next year, you keep the same game and engine and shore it up, patch it all out, make this game run keen first, add in the bells and whistles (better stadium sounds, fixed stadiums, uniforms, patches, gear, more sideline action, fix graphical glitches) and by god you'll have yourself a game.

They also all run the same. The running animation just plays faster or slower based on the speed rating. It looks terrible. Take some time and mo-cap at least 6 different running styles.

I will only name the players on the default rosters. Version one of my rosters does not include ratings changed, numbers changed, etc.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

I have to laugh because some of you don't have any idea about what you are talking about (not necessarily directed at the last few posts).

Some of this complaining instead of constructive criticism gets very tiring to read when I get on here to see if the patch is out yet. Remember, the more negativity you put out, the more you will receive. That is a fact of life, brother
