I'm sorry Eddie, but to call RealmK an 'EA guy' is downright hilarious.
This guy favored the 2K line for years (much like I did). In fact, he was one of the more active members at 2Khockey.net for years.

Along with that, he was one of the more vocal people against EA's product for years as well.

He's like a lot of people these days in that he only wants the best hockey game available regardless of where it comes from.

From what I've read he's not betting that this game is truly built from the ground-up. Looking at those videos you'd have to be either blind or a complete 2K sheep to think otherwise. It looks exactly like 2K4-2K8. Even the style of play by the AI is the exact same.

We were outright lied to about MLB2K8 so I'm not going to hold my breath about NHL2K9. 2K has let us down the last couple of years (with the exception of their NBA games).

While I liked aspects of NHL2K8 it still felt last gen to me (even as far back as Dreamcast). This whole series really needs to be blown up and started from scratch. But judging by the latest vids, that's not what's happening. And it's too bad. By this time next year, Take-Two won't even exist.

I agree Daf,but it is a bit disheartening to get just the info we have gotten.it doesn't really even make me want to even try the demo at this point.I'm really hoping that VC will release a "Sim" video of 360 gameplay like they did last year.Something that will help sell the game as something other than fun for the entire family.

What is looks like is that they are putting on their time in the Wii version. They know it will be hard to compete with EA's hockey.

Thanks Hank, yeah thats pretty much what I was getting at, if the Wii version is just a 2k8 port and they didn't have anything to show of the PS3/360 skus at E3 aside from a sizzle trailer that aparently no gaming site was allowed to put up for general consumption. I'm willing to bet those versions are just a port as well, which is fine, but don't say as a dev team we built the game from the ground up if all you really did was get Rick Nash to mocap some new animations.

To TabulaRasa. Read my post again, I in noway dissed NBA2k, I actually have perfered it to Live for a while now. IF and the keyword is IF Live is as improved as people who were at both the community event and E3 say it is, then 2k needs to stay on their toes to stay ahead with basketball. Thats all I was really trying to get across.

Flyboy: I hear what you're saying bro but its almost one of those "fool me once shame on you (MLB2k8) fool me twice shame on me, (NHL2k9) I'll try the demo for sure but I sure as hell won't buy it right out of the gate like I have in years past until they can prove to me its muchly improved over 2k8 in many aspects.

You said it all , no matter what sliders you used there was no blend in 2k8 fun for a bit but no long term enjoyment other than the goalies.
When you changed one slider it messed up the other if it even worked thats why I will not buy games like 2k anymore .
I feel Nhl 08 and The Show 08 are the way to go smart AI that adjust to your game play.
I played 2k8 3 months before I made the switch to08 as no game should be a full time job .
Games today shouldnt have AI from last gen where you could find cheats or holes in the AI

I'm a 2k fan, but I'm guessing that rebuilding the game is probably going to take two full years.
