Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here

So I got my hard drive back Friday and after 3 different tries to download the demo I finally got it downloaded today and my very first game without really knowing the controls or how the game was going to play I went into triple overtime with me (LSU) winning 18-15.
-The whole first quarter I had the ball which was capped off by a FG.
LSU 3 - OSU 0.
-OSU had the ball the entire 2nd quarter with the exception of the final :03 seconds they also capped off their drive with a field goal so we went into half time deadlocked at 3.
- Third quarter OSU got the ball and again used up the entire 2:00 which was again capped off with another FG. OSU 6 - LSU 3
-Fourth quarter I was staring at a 4th and 22 with just over :34 to go and I just aired it out into double coverage and somehow my guy came down with it for a gain of 22 1/2 which obviously resulted in a 1st down but it was 1st and goal with :27 left, they stopped me 3 straight times which forced me to call my last timeout with :03 left. As I was ready to kick the game tieing FG OSU calls their final timeout to ice me which is a pretty cool feature but I still manage to knock it through by maybe 2 feet so were going to OT knotted up at 6.
-1st OT: I win the toss but elect to go on D 1st, I force OSU to kick a FG which they make, 9-6 OSU. I get the ball convert one 1st down then get stuffed the next 3 plays which forces me to try a FG, I make it 9-9 going into the 2nd OT.
-2nd OT: I again convert one 1st down then get stuffed 3 straight times so I elect to kick a FG, 12-9 LSU. OSU converts 2 first downs and now they have the ball 1st and goal on the 2 and I somehow end up stopping them on 2 running plays then I knock down a pass on a 5 year curl in the end zone so 4th down they get the FG so it's 12-12 tie.
-3rd OT: OSU throws 3 straight incompletion's but again knocks through the FG so 15-12 OSU. I get the ball and yet again hit the wrong button and get called for Intentional grounding and find myself looking at a 4th and 16 but somehow find the same guy I found earlier when I was looking at the loss in the 4th but instead of in double coverage I find him over the middle for a 19 yard gain. I finally end it on a 4th and goal, I just said the heck with it I'm all in and from inside the 1 with a few inches to go I pound it right up the middle with my FB and get the 18-12 win.
-If this was any indication of how the full and complete version will be then WOW. I thought I was addicted to 08' playing it well into June.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here

After playing the demo (Xbox 360). I have concluded that this year isn't the year yet again.

Don't get me wrong this game finally plays like next gen should. I was really impressed with the computer AI in most areas and the tackling, blocking and a lot of other core gameplay areas have been improved immensely.

But in the end the game is still too spastic. The game plays way to fast for me(watch the OL and DL get off the ball crazy stuff going on there) and the animations have all kinds of random speeds. The game lacks immersion from a presentation standpoint. No where close to a TV style presentation, which is something I think 90% of us want. I also ran the option 15 straight times (three separate drives) and scored 3 straight touchdowns. I average about 25 ypc running the load option with OSU over numerous games.

But the real reason I won't be buying NCAA is because 1) No accelerated clock 2) No create-a-play/playbook feature. Sorry but those two things make or break football games for me.

The game is definitely moving in the right direction but it seems like the game I was expecting as the first edition of next gen, not three years in.

funny a lot of people would say its still too slow, I think its about right, at least better than '08 where the players ran too slow.

i'm pretty sure the option was fixed between the build of the demo and the final build, everyone that went to the community day said it was at least.

i agree about the lack of presentation though.

It took about an hour and 15 minutes for me.

All right, one thing I noticed is that sometimes when you try to view your player art, as the visiting team your patterns will be blurred, shaky and difficult to distinguish. In addition, a couple of your receivers might not have their passing button assigned to them. Instead, you might see a question mark above his head.

I assume that this has something to do with the difficulty of the stadium in which you're playing.

Nice concept.

However, I noticed that it's inconsistent. For example, on 1st and 10, I check my play art and my team/QB is a little rattled, so I get the visuals I describe above. Second down and 6, same thing. On 2nd down, I get sacked for a big loss, making it 3rd and 14. I check the play art expecting to see the same thing, but instead play art is not affected.

It seems to me that if the crowd's disruptive on 1st and 2nd down, they'd be going nuts on 3rd and long.

You can't. It's PSN/XBOX Live only.
