WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 First Look

We have just posted our first look at WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009, written by Wil McCombs.

Quote:
"THQ’s Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 was mediocre at best.

It’s sad to say, but it’s true. SvR 08’s gameplay suffered from the same problems as its predecessors (i.e. collision detection issues and clipping galore). Slightly tweaked controls and bland, restrictive features failed to elevate the game. Top the whole thing off with a spectacularly boring season mode, and you have on of my biggest sports game let-downs of 2007."

Platform: PS3 / Wii / Xbox 360

I don't understand how improving the tag team mode isn't a MAJOR step in the right direction for this series. You gamers under 30 don't remember how exciting WWF tag teams used to be. The British Bulldogs, The Hart Foundation, The Killer Bees, Demolition, Bundy and Studd, Rude and Henning. There should be a manager mode to this madness also. Look at how Bobby Heenan always had a good tag team/stable of athletes plottin' to destroy Hulkamania. More tag moves and finishers please!!! Stable interference needs to be revamped and more accurate!!! The 24/7 mode was fantastic, but needs tweaking. How about 1000 different storylines based on title quest, contention, rivalry, stable, face, heel...I mean, it's been over 25 great wrestling years, why the same story line every game. Next gen systems are more than capable of holding more than one storyline...or are they?

If they don't include some kind of DLC this year I'm gonna blow a gasket.

It would be nice to have the Old School Survivor Series Style matches, 4 on 4, 5 on 5, I mean, if Madden can get 22 players on the field, why can't we have 8 to 10 guys in a match? And bring back the Four Corners matches, too.

to me the best "season mode " ever for the series was on SMACKDOWN VS RAW 2 on PS2... you had no restrictions! I LOVE WRESTLING BUT I HAVEN'T BOUGHT ONE SVR since the jump to next gen. i did however try the first one after the jump and loved everything BUT the "season mode" which is the ONLY reason most people play right?!

DLC will be there, including wrestlers -- at least that's what they were saying but not saying (if you catch my drift) when I met with some THQ guys at E3.

SvR 2008 was assy *** ***, but I'm not going to get this until I'm told it's good.
