That way it will look like EA made the durastic changes everyone was complaining about. I bet they strategically planned the demo to be an earlier version.

Yikes....my bad then, my intention is not to sound overly disappointed, but to merely point out that this demo version does not match the retail or near-retail version I thought we playued in Orlando last month...

I am slightly disappointed in the retail version's offense-defense balance, as I thought the game was still tilted in favor of the offense more than I would like, but the DEMO version is a lot worse than the RETAIL version in my mind.

Sorry if the original seems to convey a different message...

Oh well. I'm still going to buy NCAA 09 regardless. It's just like you said earlier: adapt and overcome.

You didn't offend me but sometimes you have to let some of these OS members know whats on your mind. It just shows how passionate some of us gamers are about games with love.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here

lets just face it guys, there are always going to be those that say a game is crap even when it gets a ten. This years version of ncaa could get a 9.5 and people will still say the old games on the xbox and ps2 are better. There are some people that just do not want to accept the fact that this is a video game, and no matter how long EA would work on it, it is NEVER going to be PERFECT! there are too many critics out there to allow the game to be perfect. I personally love the 09 and the demo is a nice sample of the greatness that is waiting for us all on july 15th. If you dont like it then fine, go back into your hole and wait for 2010, but while your playing your outdated game, ill be playing a great game of NCAA Football with updated, real-life rosters and and great gameplay!

They have to put together the demo, test it, then have it go through approval at MS/Sony. It looks like they submitted it earlier this year so that they could have it out earlier and for a specific date that could match both consoles. That is a relatively lengthy process in total.

And again I'm going to counter the thoughts that I've seen coming from others who attended the most recent community event. Outside of specific fixes and difficulty level consideration, the general feel of the game is very similar to what you're going to get in the release version. If you expect to be blown away in comparison I think its going to lead to a letdown, unless those specific fixes or upping the difficulty is what makes the difference for you.

You guys don't get it. They have to submit a demo to Sony and Microsoft for approval. This process can take months. I can't remember which game it was, but I remember reading another developer talking about his frustration with the process. This has to be an earlier build because otherwise you wouldn't get the demo until September. It isn't that hard to understand.

On a different note: to the people who have played the full version of this game--- do you think pass rushing works better in this demo and that some how that was compromised by some of the stuff they changed in the more recent build? Can you see a difference in pass rushing on the demo? Is it better or worse?

I don't think this something that is as easy as many assume it is.

The first hurdle is that the console makers require ALL demos and downloadable content to be certified before it can be released onto PSN or XBL for downloads. THAT process can take up to a month or even 2 months depending on the backlog at MS and Sony (these are NOT well staffed departments at EITHER company).

What that means is that in order to have the demos come out this much in advance of the game's release, they would need to submit a separate code to MS and Sony for certification, one that would have to be locked down and written before the retail game was finished or gone "gold". As a result, they would pick a build that was stable and functional but not necessarily as close to the finished product as possible.

This is a very typical damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. If you have a newer build coming out in a few days - maybe one that is much closer to the final product than what we got - do you hold off submitting for certification and risk not having the demo available until July? Or do you push ahead with the demo submission anyway and just go with a slightly less finished game but one that still gets across many of the improvements (like lighting effects, even though they don't appear dynamic - or the player control and pre-play options and the improved though not perfect physics)?

I believe that EA feels strongly this year that THOSE improvements were something that they wanted to get out into the wild to let the community and the fans experience for themselves. Because of THIS they released the demo version...of course, who knows for sure...I might be totally wrong here...I would let the EA guys give the OFFICIAL reasons and comfirmations...
