They just need to do something different than Madden. APF tried to be too much like Madden, and it was bound to fail. Same general type of gameplay, same type of players, just retired instead of active, of course your average football fan is going to go for the one that has real players and teams because it's not that easy to differentiate the two. Personally, I'm excited to see what Backbreaker has to bring to the table, so far it's all talk and no substance, but at least the talk is interesting. Different camera angles, different controls, new physics engine, possible total customization, at least they're talking about going in a completely different direction than current games to give themselves a chance.
