Everyone who has played Franchise on a Next Gen system knows it is broken beyond repair.

thanks

And "broken beyond repair"? Are you referring to that you can't fix it for that particular game or that the franchise is and will continue to be broken in every Madden game from here on out?

I try to make the rosters as most accurate as I can and just play, normally let the CPU handle their own business, and sometimes I am puzzled by their tactics, but I dont have the time or patience to do all 32 teams. But I am excited for this year's madden and keep on hearing there are in game saves, which would be clutch. I am all Maddened up!

I control all 32 teams. I let the CPU handle all moves like drafts and free agency except for the one team that I plan to use.

After the offseason, I review the CPU moves and make adjustments as necessary. Say the CPU has drafted 3 quarterbacks for one team and they already have Carson Palmer, then I initiate trades with that team and other teams that need QBs. I also set the depth charts to make sure that young players get to play over older players when they have similar OVR ratings.

I switch playbooks after every game cycling through until I've used every one. Of course some play books may not fit the personell of the team I'm controlling so that makes it fun. I also use 'ask madden'. I never call my own plays.

I update to the best of my abilities, then take control of the Mighty Detroit Lions. I get my rookies on top of their game, edge towards the playoffs, win a playoff game or two, make crazy trades to get at least 2 of the top 5 picks, rebuild young, and then take a shot at the big dance. I make deals with the Raiders (my 2nd fave team) every year to try to build them up, but I only control Detroit. I can do this for 15-20 seasons because it's the only time I ever see the Lions dominating.

Now is it just me, or if you're only controlling one team, do your offensive lineman become the greatest in the game? Dominating the pro-bowl scene for careers at a time?

Re: Madden 09: How will you Franchise?

MULTI-USER ONLY!!!

Minimum 4 guys, preferably between 8 and 16!

1. No trading with the CPU or

2. "points system" which takes into account position "importance" (OL is docked substantial points when being traded to CPU), AGE (players being traded to CPU teams are "devalued" within our points system for every year older than 28), SPEED (players traded from the CPU at "skill positions" are given higher trade value for every point above 91 speed, example - 2 CBs on the CPU team are both 25 years old, both 86 OVR, but CB 1 is 96 speed and CB 2 is 91 speed, that is a differance of 1000 points in our system or 200 "points" for every point of higher speed rating)! Draft picks are valued using an unbalanced modification of the draft pick value chart developed by Jimmy Johnson. The CPU is given + 500 to every draft pick value. All trades must fit within the "points sytem" and be acceptable to the CPU logic!

3. Trades between HUM controlled teams - must be approved by the "Co-Commisioners", or voted on by all players - depending on how many HUM teams are participating.

4. FREE AGENCY - we use a draft style system in FA to allow the lower teams among the human teams a better chance at closing the gap. FA is 3 rds of worst to first picking FA and trying to sign them to contracts. Then we "sim" 5 days for the CPU to sign players, then the worst team (HUM) gets ti "fill" his roster, followed by the second worst team etc etc...

5. Various rules voted on regarding player edit, contract negotiation, self imposed salary cap restrictions, etc etc...

the way i do it...
control all 32 teams
tweek the rosters to match the nfl as close as possible
play all the games as the home team ( every team, every game)
let the cpu draft and sign free agents after season
rename top rookies to match top college players expected to be drafted

may be overboard but i have alot of fun with it
