I agree. I dont buy them. I play the demo and if i am disappointed (which i am 100 percent of the time) i just stay away, but i will at least give them a go.

This of course is unnecessary in a Madden thread but the same people want to bring up 2k in every EA thread. Last year people complain about their being no online leagues...this year the same people say EA shouldn't be devoting time to online leagues instead of focussing on gameplay.

Madden 08 wasn't a bad football game but was extremely boring because of the lack of presentation. This year it looks like they focussed on presentation and Madden 09 could be a great game. The massive amount of EA haters do not want to accept that.
ughh, what was a gimmick in the 2k8 sports series? The only thing i could think of would be the pitching in MLB2k8. APF2k8 was basic. They did NOT over-complicate things. YOu do not hit a button and 100 things pop up. I dont play hockey so i cant speak for that, but i have NBA, MLB and the Football game. I dont see any gimmicks other then possibly the pitching in MLB. Btw, you can still go back to the old style of pitching. It takes 5 seconds to switch over.

So, i will come back later so i can hear these so called gimmicks.

That makes complete sense. That is also what I do for all of my games. Well except the no-brainers like GTA IV and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 of course. Even those I read reviews before buying though.

Re: Madden NFL 09: First Online Leagues Details and Video Clip

All the complaining is a result of years of neglect to EA's fan base...the people who religously buy thier games...EA now has a monopoly on the NFL and the game, in most peoples eyes, hasn't got that much better I would say in 8 years...little fixes here, little tweaks there, a roster update and boom! (to quote john madden) another $60-$50 365 days later. People are catching on to thier game after all these years and the frustration is starting to boil up now that there are no real alternatives to NFL video game football.

Then you read about these press releases and the EA people are talking about making the game more accessable to newbies, wierd online league decisions, and other things that don't address the core frustration most loyal Madden fans have, issues with the game play.

Most hardcore Madden fans can look at that first video that was released and tell right away there's nothing new to the core gameplay. I was majorly discouraged after viewing that clip...

....that clip cuts at my core frustation with the game. Watch it, the defense finally gets some pressure on the QB, the defender is literally in Favres face, and the QB blindly flings one out to the flat with a guy jumping and hitting favre and the pass goes for a 50 yard TD (pass right on the money)...classic madden football...yuk!

Gee EA, how about programming in some randomness into passes that are thrown under that kind of pressure instead of figuring out how to get a newbie to complete that garbage with one button passing or some crap like that....They have programmed the fun out of the game, literally. But hey, at least your uncle who doesn't play video games can pick up the controller once a year on Thanksgiving day and compete with you. Cool!

i havent bought any of the "next gen" madden games so i havent seen any of the same ol' tackling animation that many of you are complaining about though its understandable...

i still dont like how the OL/DL interact they just dont capture the battle of the trenches feel like they do in APF...

Agreed...sticky blocks have always been a problem and have never been addressed.
Add it to the list of things that will not get fixed this year.

Yeah, it sounds so harmless and innocent until you realize how EA bullies positive reviews out of various websites by threatening to withhold the game. Plus theres often a variety of misinformation in various interviews where certain features will be in the game but arent. I mean if Joe Gamer saw an interview on June 1st about a feature that is supposed to be in the game only for it to eventually not be in, thats a swindle even if EA subsequently admits that feature wont be in, who is to say that Joe Gamer sees the subsequent interview. So theyre awfullly fast and loose with information,...and ultimately their ace in the hole is an overly generous software law that restricts returns. Thats a swindle.
