Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Screenshots - The Stadiums

I understand the need to want everything perfect, but I'm not totally hung up on it.

To this day, I think a tweaked "tune file" and High Heat 2002 is the best baseball experience out there. MVP 05 is an incredibly close second. And, I think MLB Power Pros is a freakin' blast.

All of those game have inconsistencies. High Heat was downright ugly, even for its time. MVP had issues (sometimes, homerun trots never touched first base), and Power Pros... well... it has its own look and horrible commentary. But they're all fun to play.

I can live with inaccuracies at Fenway, or any other stadium, if the game plays well (and smoothly) between the lines. And if it's fun.

I'm ecstatic as well. It hurts to not have a baseball game for three straight years now that I've really loved and gotten into long-term. I think 2K8 could be that. The amount of nitpicking going into this game is unreal. Almost everything I've seen so far I've liked and I haven't even experienced it in true HD yet. I have a feeling Tuesday will be a very good day.

most of it looks fine, but like Carew said I guess 2k just chooses to pretend there's not a gigantic structure going up behind Shea

Authenticity. If they can get a player's mole on their cheek with an error of 0.01 cm, I think they can change the color of a wall in a stadium.

Stadiums are very important to hardcore baseball gamers. Just note that for future installments.

The paint in this case is:

1. This is supposed to be a small tunnel that allows players access to the field. No seats in front of it.
2. Missing section of seats here.
3. These seats have never once been used in a baseball game and have no facing in front of them. If a fan were to get into this section they could fall right off behind the scoreboard.
4. These seats haven't been used in a couple years, and they have never been used in center except for playoff games.
5. Same as above.
6. Tarp should cover this entire section as it makes up the batters eye.
7. The center field wall is about half the size it should be.
8. The tunnel is about twice the size it should be.

Oh, as for the actual paint, it should be pretty obvious that the bright orange of the entire stadium is nowhere to be found in the game.

Other than that I think they did a good job.

Just as I figured, they have 0 of Kauffman's $250 million renovation project in the game.

The Jake *it will never be call "The Prog"* has the scoreboard from the freaking 90's in the game...that is still a disappointment...

2K's virtual Jake looks so godawful bad for about 5 years now.

Nice post ab713. No wonder I couldn't recognize the stadium, there was no orange.
