Oh yeah and also our goalie scored a goal this season, so that was cool.
It's less common in today's NHL to see late round draft picks become superstars because scouting has gotten so much better that guys, specifically non NA players, don't get picked late because barely any scouting was done on them.

But seeing Kaprizov becoming one of the top players in the NHL is crazy.

I hope the Wild go deep this year. Too bad NHL format is forcing a Wild vs Jets 2nd round matchup when that should've been a conference finals matchup between what could be the 1 and 2 seed in the west.

Kaprisov was one of the best players in the KHL wasn’t he? I think the only reason he wasn’t picked high was because there was a genuine belief that he would never leave Russia. Maybe size too.

Sabres now lost 11 in a row.

Time to rebuild...again.

To think, they once had Reinhart, Eichel, Ullmark at the same time.

Sabres now at 13 losses in a row.

The Bills have fewer losses dating back 3 years ago where they are 39-12 in their last 51 regular season games.

Going to the Habs/Jackets game tonight! I'm a Habs fan and one of my best friends is a Jackets fan. We live about an hour from Columbus. So we try to do this every year.

Does anybody here listen to hockey podcasts?

Was wondering if there were any good ones that covered the whole league.

"the hockey show" with David Dwork and Roy Bellamy cover the league, but do slant a little toward the Panthers (which makes sense)

Re: The Official 2024-25 Season Talk Thread

I'm mystified by how Derek Lalonde still has a job.

Frankly, I'm starting to wonder why Stevie Y still has a job. I understand that he's Red Wings royalty, but it's been 5+ years. The team is no better off than when he got here, and trending in the wrong direction. It's legitimate to wonder whether he just got lucky in Tampa, or someone else there was really the brains behind the operation, or perhaps something is really wrong with the Red Wings organization that is not obvious to the regular fan on the street.

Whatever the reason, I don't mean to be overly reactionary, but I think we're approaching "fire everyone, trade everyone, then fire anyone that's left" territory in Detroit...
