Cortez Kennedy...Hall of Famer?

For those old enough to remember, Kennedy was a beast as a DT in his prime. However, I think what hurt him was his sack numbers and he played in Seattle his entire career. The sacks probably can be overlooked because DT's get double teamed the most, especially the elite DT's. BUT him playing in Seattle and not playing with a worthy d-lineman might have killed his chances for the HOF. I personally wouldn't hold that against him and I feel he should get consideration.

What do you guys think?

No doubt he should be in. 8 time pro bowler. 3 time all pro. He did have 14.5 sacks one season. For a DT that's amazing. Anyone who watched football during that time knew what a beast he was and that he deserves it.

Thats a tough one. He was a finalist last year, but I would put John Randle in before Kennedy. I believe he will eventually get in the HOF, but not anytime soon.

While were on this subject, If Cris Carter doesn't get in next year I'm going to boycott the HOF lol. I mean this is his thrid try. Steve Largent was a first ballot and Carters stats are better. I know for sure Rice and E.Smith are gonna get in next year lets hope Carter joins them.

Cortez Kennedy was a great defensive lineman, but he doesn't even deserve a mention as long as guys like Richard Dent, Chris Doleman and especially John Randle aren't in the HoF.

Re: Cortez Kennedy...Hall of Famer?

I've made my opinion known on here that the lack of HOF respect for Tez is a joke. The problem is that he played in Seattle and those Hawk teams were abysmal, so no one watched or cared about them. Its not often a player wins DPOY on a 2-14 team. Even facing double and triple teams every snap, he was nearly unblockable early in his career. He was so much fun to watch.

The knock on him is that injuries took their toll on Tez and slowed him down in the second half of his career. So I can understand why someone like Randall gets more pub, since longevity was on his side. From a pure talent standpoint though, I'd take Tez every single time.
