Re: Plate Discipline

I should forward a copy of this article to every single staff member of the Minnesota Twins, along with a note that it's time to move into the 21st century.

Re: Plate Discipline

Yea, that was a good article.

The A's just know what they're doing.

Re: Plate Discipline

Plate discipline is crucially important. It allows you to dictate the outcome of your own at bat more so than the pitcher. I began idolizing Bonds' approach at one point and discovered the keys to becoming such a great hitter, one of them being hitting a pitch that you actually want to hit. If not, draw the walk or tip your hat to the pitcher for throwing two quality strikes.

In my adult league so far I have walked twice every game and at least 75% of my at bats run to three balls and/or two strikes. That makes the pitcher wear out more and I get a better sense of what he's throwing. It means everything for success IMO.

Jeff Francoeur is just an idiot, though I still root for him.
