2k rank, how to rank up?

currently i'm a superstar 2. i got here rather easily, i bought the game late (had it about 2 months) but i feel like i've been stuck on superstar 2 for about 3-4 weeks now when usually i'm ranking up at least once, usually twice per week. the ONLY thing i play is online ranked quick match games. is there other game modes that factor into your rating? i know it doesn't really matter but i'm kind of on a mission to get to the hall of fame ranking. i've heard it takes a long time to get there but i'm just making sure i'm not taking the long way by only playing online quick matches.

i don't get a thrill out of playing the CPU on any difficulty, it's way too easy for one and for two i only feel satisfied if i'm beating another actual person. but if it means i'm going to get to the Hall of Fame ranking, i'll gladly play the other garbage.

I think if you play myplayer it goes faster but I only play online
