Why do players guard the wrong man

This happens many times per game, and it absolutely ruins otherwise great gameplay.

I did not call for a double team, yet half the time my PF will guard the PG when I'm right next to him, holding LT, and leave his guy wide open.

I try to manually switch to him and take him off the ballhandler, but then my PG wont guard him, its like my PF is locked on to the PG no matter what.

Any ways around this?

Go into coach settings and put double team never, it helps some. Also switch to your big while the screen is about to be set and follow his man, this also helps.
