Pass fake out of backdoor cut (Y)

Is it not possible anymore to send a teammate to cut to the basket with Y and then to cancel this by adding B while still holding Y to go into a passfake? It seems like the pass will always be played.

I liked to send my teammate to a cut and then depending what the defense showed me cancel with a passfake and go up for the open shot. right now when the defense sags off to defend the cutter and I am forced to pass, this will result in a interception most of the times...

My biggest guess here, is this was the fight off Cut Button cheese. Because one of the problem was you could cancel a pass by adding the pump and then start another cut with a different player for an easy bucket.

you could also improve defense against Cuts and introduce bumping the cutter instead of just letting him by, but what do i know....

Second I agree with you to a point. The cut cheese has been around for a while now. They did improve "some" of the logic for the defense. But it wasn't enough. It's a balancing act. You want to be able to tell the CPU to cut. But you don't want what happen last year. But you also don't want defense steal every single pass made using the button.

By the way I was kidding about the "you" thing. I know who you were talking to
