M12 vs M25

I haven't purchased Madden since '12 and haven't played it in a long while. Now that M15's been officially released, M25 can be had for the cheap. I haven't played anything beyond M12, so my question is this: Is M25 worth the upgrade price from M12? I specifically play coach mode, so the actual "controlling" of the players aspect is not necessarily important to me since I'll only be calling plays and kicking - if that happens to matter.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

If you're playing coach mode,I'm not sure.On the field gameplay may be a little better in most instances but the game is alot buggier than '12 for franchise. There are lengthy threads about players retiring early and disappearing from franchise without notice.Players that should be far from retiring like Matt Stafford for example. Dealing with Xp is not for everyones taste either.I think they improved that some this year. You can't edit like you can in '12 if you enjoy that.

I wouldn't think it's worth it unless you don't mind just giving it a try because I noticed it was only around $22 used at Gamestop the other day and the Target by me had it for $20 new.

Re: M12 vs M25

Wow, I never heard about the retirements and players just randomly disappearing. You'd think that would've been corrected in a patch. I don't really do any player editing, so that wouldn't be an issue. Never dealt with the XP so not sure what it's all about. I know in M12 you pretty much had to do 32 team control because the AI was not too smart. And the whole thing with the made up UDFA really screwed things up when the cpu would cut established players for a guy with a potential of 85 who became a 55 when the season began.

I'm just looking for a realistic franchise experience and with M12 it took so much user intervention to resemble anything remotely real. I'm a little turned off by players disappearing for no reason though.

I know what you mean by the necessary task of 32 team control because of those things in '12.One of the threads for disappearing players is on page 3 right now about half way down under 'Ever had a player disappear'.

Re: M12 vs M25

Thanks for that. What a mess that sounds like. I can't believe that was never patched. That sucks, now I'm not sure I want to even move onto M25. I was getting excited about the upgrade from '12, but with players disappearing for no apparent reason I'm having 2nd thought. Why does EA make it so hard to find a quality sim football game?!

I don't think the last-gen games will be patched.

Re: M12 vs M25

Players don't disappear. They will retire at different points in the off-season. If theyare at the very bottom of the free agent list for position after a whole off season some may be dropped due to the amount of new players after the draft. This issue seems to be getting blown out of proportion. I have played 30 seasons of ccm on m25 and it's never been an issue. Anyone reasonably of note will show up in the transaction log. If a random 50 overall d.e. getting dropped from the free agent pool after being unemployed for a whole offseason is a game breaker then you'll never have fun with any Madden. M25 was a lot of fun. M15 is way better then m25, do yourself a favour and get m15.
