House Rules

So I've seen this thread in previous maddens so figured I'd start one. What are some rules you follow to make the game more interesting for your self?

If my starting qb gets hurt I only use 3 formations with my backup quarterback to simulate them not knowing the playbook.

No trades for rookies

No free agents in multiple franchises (to avoid the habit of always ending up with the same players on my roster, I call this the Taylor Mays rule)

No trading someone signed as a free agent until the deadline of their second year on the roster

No olb moving to de, I don't know if this is necessary anymore, do they all still basically go to 99's?

No kneeldowns

The back up QB knows the playbook just as good as the starter does. And why do you not take a knee?

Re: House Rules

with the adding of PMV, FMV, BSH, etc. the not moving a guy from LB to DE house rule isn't needed anymore IMO.

As far as house rules I would utilize

- No trading away or trading for rookies. Even second year players are mostly off limits

- No signing free agents over 80 overall. Most of the FAs are overrated (otherwise they wouldn't be FAs). I may actually just edit these players to lower overalls so that teams don't sign automatic starter through FA (I especially don't want to see Aldon Smith in my franchise when he likely won't play again...or even if he does he won't return as the same player).

- I used to sim through the draft and find the best players at each round then draft them...obviously that is a house rule now. Draft once. Don't go back and "fix" your mistakes.

- Realistic trades in general. Most teams aren't going to give up a 2nd round pick for a 6th rounder a year after drafting them, even if they are a "bust." Trading with draft picks is always risky because the game doesn't really view them for their true value, so I am always wary of trading picks for players

I typically use a variation the bolded rule.
I am not allowed to resign any of my own FA. I can use the franchise tag on one but that is it. If I want to resign my own FA I have to bid for them like the rest of the FA.
