Sharks are sitting firmly in 3rd in the Pacific. They are 6 points ahead of Calgary and LA, who are making a late push. If they win out, they will probably play either Vegas or Edmonton in the 1st Round.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS SHINE IN MILESTONE NIGHT AGAINST NEW JERSEY

March 17th, 2025

The Golden Knights put an end to the Devils 4 Game win streak with a thrilling 5-2 Victory.

The Vegas Golden Knights celebrated a night of milestones and achievements in their 5-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils. From Mark Stone's career accolades to Jack Eichel's scoring dominance and Shea Theodore's record-breaking season, it was a game to remember for the Western Conference leaders.

Mark Stone added another chapter to his illustrious career, playing in his 800th NHL game. The Golden Knights’ captain made the night even more special by scoring his 300th career goal as part of a three-point performance. Stone registered a goal and two assists, displaying the leadership and skill that have been hallmarks of his game.

“To play 800 games in this league is something I’m really proud of,” Stone said. “To hit the 300-goal mark in the same game makes it even more special. I’m lucky to have great teammates who make these moments possible.”

Stone opened the scoring midway through the first period, firing a wrist shot past Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. The goal not only marked his 300th but also set the tone for a dominant performance by the Golden Knights.

Jack Eichel continued his torrid pace, taking over the NHL scoring lead with a four-point night. Eichel recorded a goal and three assists, bringing his season total to 97 points. The dynamic center has been the engine of Vegas’s offense all season and showed why he’s considered one of the league’s elite players.

Eichel’s highlight of the night came in the first period when he set up Stone’s milestone goal with a perfectly timed cross-ice pass. Later, he added a goal of his own, burying a breakaway chance to give Vegas a commanding lead.

“It’s nice to be at the top, but honestly, it’s all about the team right now,” Eichel said. “We’re playing great hockey, and that’s what matters most.”

Shea Theodore made history of his own, setting a new franchise record for points by a defenseman in a single season. With two assists against New Jersey, Theodore brought his season total to 57 points, surpassing the previous record.

Theodore’s offensive contributions from the blue line have been a key factor in Vegas’s success this year. His ability to generate plays and quarterback the power play has made him one of the NHL’s premier defensemen.

“It’s an honor to set the record, but I’m just focused on helping the team win,” Theodore said. “We’ve got a special group here, and I’m excited about what we can achieve.”

The Golden Knights controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Devils 36-28 and capitalizing on their chances. In addition to Stone, Eichel, and Theodore’s standout performances, William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault also found the scoresheet.

Vegas’s defensive structure limited New Jersey’s opportunities, while goaltender Robin Lehner made 26 saves to secure the win.

With the victory, the Golden Knights continue to hold their place atop the NHL standings as they close in on the Presidents’ Trophy. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next game against another hot team, the New York Rangers on March 19th.

For now, the focus remains on their collective effort, but nights like these; filled with personal and team milestones, show why the Golden Knights are among the league’s elite.

“It was a special night all around,” assistant head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Stone, Eichel, Theodore—they’re the backbone of this team, and they showed why tonight.” Head Coach Peter DeBoer has been conspicuously absent during this Eastern Conference Road Trip.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS EDGE OILERS 2-1 IN KEY MATCHUP, BUT LOSE PIETRANGELO

March 20th, 2025

Mark Stone scored the game winning goal in Vegas 2-1 Win over Division Rival Edmonton.

The rivalry between the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers added another chapter on Thursday night in a tightly contested game that saw the Golden Knights prevail 2-1 at Rogers Centre. While the victory solidified Vegas’s grip on first place in the Western Conference, it came at a cost as star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo left the game after blocking a slapshot and is expected to miss two weeks.

Vegas relied on its leaders to get the job done offensively, with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone each scoring pivotal goals. Eichel opened the scoring in the first period, blasting a one-timer past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner off a slick pass from Shea Theodore. The goal, Eichel’s 34th of the season, continued his league-leading offensive tear.

Stone added what would become the game-winner in the second period, deflecting a wrist shot from Theodore past Skinner. The Golden Knights’ captain’s gritty performance showcased why he’s the heart and soul of the team.

“It’s always intense when we play Edmonton,” Stone said. “They’re a great team, but we stuck to our game plan, and Robin was unbelievable in net.”

Robin Lehner turned in a stellar performance between the pipes, stopping 32 of 33 shots and keeping Connor McDavid, the NHL’s second-leading scorer, off the scoresheet. Lehner’s positioning and calm under pressure were instrumental in frustrating Edmonton’s high-octane offense, especially during a late-game power play where the Oilers threw everything they had at the net.

“Our defense did a great job limiting their time and space, and I just tried to make the saves I needed to,” Lehner said. “It’s always a battle against those guys, and tonight was no different.”

Despite the win, the Golden Knights suffered a significant setback when Alex Pietrangelo went down in the third period after blocking a blistering slapshot from Darnell Nurse. Pietrangelo immediately left the ice and did not return. Postgame, assistant head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed that Pietrangelo is expected to miss two weeks.

“Losing Alex is tough. He’s a huge part of our team, both defensively and as a leader,” Cassidy said. “But we’ve faced adversity before, and this group knows how to step up.”

The Oilers, who came into the game just three points behind Vegas in the standings, pressed hard in the third period, cutting the deficit to 2-1 with a power-play goal from Leon Draisaitl. However, Lehner and the Golden Knights’ defense held strong, preventing Edmonton from completing the comeback.

Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft praised his team’s effort but acknowledged the challenge of facing Lehner and the Vegas defense. “We had our chances, but their goaltender made some big saves,” Woodcroft said. “It’s a tough loss, but we’ll regroup.”

With the win, Vegas extends its lead atop the Western Conference to five points, maintaining their position as the league’s top team. However, the loss of Pietrangelo adds uncertainty as the Golden Knights prepare for a challenging stretch of games.

The Golden Knights will next face the Calgary Flames on March 22nd, while the Oilers look to rebound against the Arizona Coyotes. For now, the rivalry between Vegas and Edmonton remains as fierce as ever, with the Golden Knights gaining the upper hand in this critical matchup.
