Grossman or Orton?

Here's my team:

QB - Matt Ryan, Kyle Orton
RB - Jamaal Charles, McCoy, Shonn Greene, J. Stewart
WR - C Johnson, R Wayne, M Floyd, R Meachem
TE - K Winslow, Z Miller
K - N Rackers
D - Saints

Grossman is available in the FA pool and everyone keeps saying he's going to be the #1 guy in Washington and he's worth having on a fantasy team.

Also, Orton seems to not be a very popular guy in Denver right now. He puts up good fantasy points, but the fans want Tebow splitting time, even though John Fox says he's the #1 QB right now. I have my doubts that Orton will consistently take the snaps in Denver, and I DEFINITELY don't want a player in a position battle.

So should I pick up Grossman and drop Orton or not?

I forgot to mention I have Marques Colston because I want to keep him until he gets back.

Re: Grossman or Orton?

The fans calling for Tebow don't even realize that he's listed as the #3 QB on the team. Orton has a ton more job security than Grossman. Of course that can change (for either) but as of right now, if that's important then keep Orton. So when is that important? If you're in a league where (for whatever reason) there aren't many viable options at backup QB available in FA, then you want one you can count on. You'd expect whoever you have to only have to play one week (can look at who they each play during ATL's bye week too). If there are plenty of QBs out there, then roll the dice with Grossman. Both of them are pretty much boom or bust types so I really wouldn't think about starting either ever, besides during Ryan's bye.

I actually started Orton in week 1 and again this week because he has better matchups than Ryan (Oakland and Cleveland vs Chicago and Philadelphia). Orton got me more points too but that's because Ryan didn't throw a TD pass against the Bears.

Risky, but nothing wrong with Orton... just like nothing wrong with Grossman. But neither are dependable. Orton's not known for getting TDs and Grossman's known for turnovers. They'll have some good games but others not so good bc of those issues. Just too inconsistent to rely on. Obviously Ryan was a dud last week but 9 times out of 10 I'd take my chances with him over rolling the dice with either of these two.
