can i just use a crossover cable from my laptop to the xbox and transfer the rosters that way to my xbox HD?

You need Action Replay and the action replay memory card...(any other memory card doesn't work)

that link is talking about a specially modded xbox. if you dont have Evolution X loaded on your xbox it doesn't apply to you:

you cant just FTP into a regular old xbox with both a login & password of "xbox." those are just the defaults for an evo x dashboard
