Looking to get into a new show...

I've never really "followed" any TV series until recently....

Me and the Mrs stared with Heroes,, which became kind bleh after awhile, but I liked the premise...

We then became absolutely hooked on Dexter, like 5 episodes a day hooked until we caught up...lol
we still frequently watch L & O: SUV too....

So I guess I'm into the crime , twist, maybe even a little supernatural type thing...

Any suggestions? Been googling all morning but I figured my OS bros could shed more insight....right now Breaking Bad/ Fringe are at the top of my list...

How To Make It In America is the show you should definitely check out, even though it doesn't fit into the type of show you're looking for lol

If you like Sci-Fi definitely the X-Files. If your looking more modern I would say Torchwood & Fringe. A show that hit this year which was a pretty good surprise was Alphas

If you want to get into some shows you need to buy the DVDs to see past shows. There are many:

Breaking Bad (current-new season in about a year), The Shield, The Wire, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire (Currently in 2nd season), and Dexter (Currently in 6th season).

Bones is a fun show, if you're like crime procedurals.

Re: Looking to get into a new show...

Are you looking for a current show to watch weekly or just another series to "catch up" with?

If it doesn't have to be new, I would recommend Six Feet Under. I recently finished the first season and it is a great show. It has a lot of dark humor in it and the cast is wonderful.

For new shows, stick with Community, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Modern Family, and try American Horror Story.

The Shield --- just because you read a major spoiler (believe I came across one too)..... still worth a look. The interplay of some of the characters and the mini-stories along the way (Wagenbach's interrogation scenes and his need to catch a serial killer are great)

The Wire (Season 2 was my favorite)

Mad Men (Male soap opera)

American Horror Story --- just doesn't stop

Fringe (I liked it at first, but didn't like the turn it took)

Breaking Bad is a no brainer. Must be watched from episode 1 on.
