Good news for slasher fans. A new Halloween movie is confirmed for October of 2018. I almost thought it was a joke with who is writing and directing. But John Carpenter is an executive producer. So I trust he won't let it get weird.

This is the good news I needed after hearing the Friday The 13th reboot was cancelled this week.

I questioned this on Twitter the other day.

We've gotten Jason in space, People sneaking up and killin him, we've even gotten Fraddy vs Jason.

Why haven't we gotten Jason vs Leatherface or Jason vs Michael?

The reason is basically because of different production companies. Dimension owns the rights to Halloween, Paramount owns Friday, and New Line owns Nightmare, and Vortex owns Chainsaw.

The only reason we got Freddy vs Jason is because New Line acquired the rights to Friday after Part 8. They no longer have the rights to Friday because they made a deal with Paramount to give it back in part of another deal which involved Interstellar. Don't remember the exact details.

But, next year the Friday rights go back to New Line over some lawsuit. So I guess its possible we get another Freddy vs Jason. I doubt it will happen, but I am really hoping New Line will do another Friday. I was so bummed when I heard they cancelled the new one. It was literally set to start filming in a couple weeks. Apparently Paramount got cold feet because Rings bombed. But I would bet my house the new Friday would have netted more than its budget by far. It was only 21 million.

I'm very excited to see what they bring to the table, anything M/Myers is always great t me.

My son and I are massive Halloween fans.

I can confirm the movie will pick up after Halloween II so forget everything after II in the cannon.

There are two ways to watch the series.

Halloween
Halloween II
H2O

Halloween
Halloween II
Halloween IV
Halloween V
Halloween VI Producers cut


I loved Halloween III but obviously it is a stand alone film.

Resurrection was a pure money grab and just silly.


Carpenter also has said he will probably do the music for this new film.

I also really liked Rob Zombies remake. His sequel not so much but it was quite interesting.

Looking forward to this new film.

Hated Rob Zombie remake, he went outside the lines, a 6"8 Myers was just stupid IMO

I also loved Halloween III. Just watched it a few weeks ago in fact.

The only redeeming quality of Resurrection was killing off Laurie Strode. But at that point shouldn't Michael Have stopped killing? Yeah, it was a mess.

Anyway, glad this is picking up after part II and not technically a reboot.

Of course I enjoyed every film to an extent, the first two and classics in my opinion. Then the fourth was the best after that. The rest were ok for what they were.

With John Carpenter being involved I'm sure this will be good.

Yep we are on the same page. I loved I, II, III and IV as well. I thought H2O was strong too.

There are some purists who just piss on Zombies remake but I really enjoyed it.
