Afraid I screwed up my game

So I have been playing NHL 09 with no freezes or problems since day one. However, i read that clearing your cache may make your custom sounds work better (louder) on 360.

Well upon clearing my cache I have begun getting the dirty disc error all the time!

What fixes this? Is there a permanent fix and what the heck caused this to happen to me because I just now cleared the cache???
