Go Figure (Dreifort with 7 Ks in 2 innings)
It's one of those fun, flukey baseball stats. Because of a wild pitch on one of the strikeouts, Dreifort actually struck out 4 in the second inning and 3 in the first inning. Then again, the Dodgers have 2 errors already so the only way he can get people out are with K's. And even that hasn't been perfect...

I love the wild pitch strikeout. Shows the batter has a great command of the strike zone.

Ok, that got me curious. Apparently, the batter who did that was Aaron Cook, the opposing pitcher. SI

I knew a kid who in little league (well seniors) if he had two strikes and got a pitch that was obviously not going to be handled by the catcher, would swing and miss intentionally with the idea that he'd beat the throw to first and get aboard that way. (The kid was fast, so the times I saw him try it, he did make it)

Why did they take Dreifort out after the 6th? He had 12 k's.

looking at the box score, my guess: 1. he had thrown 109 pitches 2. to pinch hit for him in a close game. granted, they only took out a guy hitting .143 and replaced him with a guy hitting .177, but it's the thought that counts |

Dodgers have only alloewd 137 runs this year, first in the league (18 below the A's). Unfortunately, they're second worst in the league as far as runs scored goes, second to only the Tigers.
Dreifort has some nasty stuff hte first time throguh a lineup, then usually wears down... |

Dodgers dont need another 11 million wasted on DD being on the DL for another year. Besides, our bullpen is doing quite well

Hell yeah clint
Bummer about Dreifort for Dodger fans...any of you all heard the rumors about Lowell? Apparently the Dodgers are in talks with the Marlins to possibly get Lowell for Beltre + a prospect. Personally, as a Giants fan, I really really really don't want to see this happen. If the Dodger staff can put up numbers anywhere near those they've already put up all year, they're a strong team. Add to that a decent offense (which Lowell would provide), and then I worry about the Dodgers possibly taking the division. Grr....
